Man allowed himself to be ‘eaten alive’ by an anaconda, new Discovery documentary says

An author and wildlife filmmaker purportedly allowed himself to be swallowed alive by an anaconda in the Amazon rainforest, according to a new Discovery Channel documentary.

Paul Rosolie, who has written extensively about the western Amazon, is seen dressed in “snake-proof” body armour as he approaches the giant snake in the trailer for the forthcoming documentary Eaten Alive.

“We’re going to make me as appealing as possible so the snake just says, ‘Well, I’ve got this big thing here, so I might as well get a free meal,'” Mr. Rosolie says in the video.

In its billing for the new show, Discovery said the man entered “the belly” of the snake. And judging from his active Twitter account, Mr. Rosolie survived the encounter.

“If u know me — I would never hurt a living thing,” he wrote in a Tweet Tuesday. “You’ll have to watch #EatenAlive to find out how it goes down!”

But one herpetologist dismissed the claim that he was eaten alive as “nonsense.”

“Not possible,” Frank Indiviglio, who worked with the Bronx Zoo for two decades, told Business Insider.

“Discovery has taken a real nosedive in recent years; more nonsense,” he said later on Twitter — an apparent dig at some of the channel’s recent documentaries that have been largely discredited as fiction. For example, its 2013 Shark Week documentary, which claimed an ancient shark species wasn’t actually extinct, continues to be slammed by marine biologists.

A call to the Discovery Channel went unreturned Thursday morning.

How would he breathe? Would the snake's powerful stomach acids melt his eyes away? Did the snake just vomit him up?

This will be interesting to watch cus an anaconda just doesn't slither up to a meal and start swallowing
wonder how he survived the rib crushing and constriction?
I am guessing that the suit had steel/titanium ribbing to prevent crushing.

not cool. He will have to kill the snake to get out.
I have not seen the program but if I had to design a suit to be non snake digestible, I would attach copper wires so that I could put a taser jolt through the suit to induce snake vomiting. Or a tube that runs from head to toe and an assistant ready pump in a 5 gallon jug of Syrup of ipecac into the snakes stomach.

At the very least lots of half-truths.
FYI - Marlin Perkins of Wild Kingdom ( Mutual of Omaha ) use to stage events with wild animals by making a pen from trees and shrubs and taunting the animals till they were upset, then they would throw another wild animal in to the pen and stage a fight ( or slaughter ) Perkins was interviewed by the CBCs Fifth Estate many years ago and was asked if he staged animal fights. Perkins got upset and yelled stop the camera and smashed the reporter in the face.

Darwin Award all the way to the bank. How much would they have to pay you to get swallowed by a snake? How much will this program bring in world wide sales and residuals on re-runs? It is estimated that a single program of the COPS franchise cost $150K - $200K to produce and distribute but will net in its lifetime about $5 million per episode in world wide sales. ( the cops with swelled heads and egos ham it up for free )

I am sure they caught a huge snake an starved it a couple of months and made sure it was in a weakened state before they allowed it to swallow a guy in a ribbed snake proof suit.

I decided to search "Paul Rosolie" to see if this was like the Megalodon and mermaid documentaries; Ie. he didn't exist and was just an actor and they were going to CG him being swallowed by the snake but it turns out he's a legit filmmaker.

What makes what he's doing incredibly hypocritical is he says he's for preserving snakes and other animals yet here he is basically torturing one.
