Apple Apologizes for iOS 8.0.1 Fiasco, Offers a Workaround

A day after its iOS 8.0.1 update started messing with iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus owners' cellular service and Touch ID functionality, Apple has published an official statement on the issue.

"We apologize for the great inconvenience experienced by users, and are working around the clock to prepare iOS 8.0.2 with a fix for the issue, and will release it as soon as it is ready in the next few days." a company spokesperson told The Verge.

lmao so let me get this straight,Apple release a very buggy iOS8 that messes up peoples older iPhones, they then release an update to correct it and subsequently mess up many peoples iPhone 6 and 6plus. they then retract the update and ask people to sit tight with their messed up phones for a few more days....wow, just wow!

And of course djk and otb will defend Apple to the end and say its no big deal lol

Well played Apple, well played!

Can you imagine the shitstorm that would have ensued had BlackBerry done something like that?

Dominat market share... Talk about your under statements.
There's a reason why Apple dominates market share, their stuff is overpriced. Why would I purchase an Apple product when a perfectly good PC or BlackBerry will do everything I need for a fraction of the cost? Not to mention how quickly Apple stuff becomes obsolete. I can understand if you're in the graphic arts/design business etc. then a Mac makes sense, but most are paying way to much for something they don't need. Doesn't matter to me, not my money. But I still think they're crazy.

Prime example, my friend's daughter convinced her dad to buy her a MacBook Air. The 13" with no DVD burner and tiny HD cost 3 times what I paid for my 17" notebook. And all she does is download movies, go on Facebook and surf the web.

What a joke, that's why Apple does so well, they feed off the unintelligent, the sheep!

Reminds me of people who bought these. lol

So much angst... I understand, when the facts don't align with your POV then all that is left is teenage angst.

Apple moved to the #5 PC company last quarter - largely on the back of the next generation while the old folks continue to run their virus bait.... Reports are that Apple has sold more than 20m iPhone 6

Um, they don't dominate in market share. They usually occupy a small yet decent share which is very profitable.

How mobile is your 17" laptop? Does the screen have excellent viewing angles? Does it contain the basic Intel CPU or the full featured one (Yes, there is a difference and most Windows laptops ship with the basic to keep costs low)? Just because you can't immediately see the difference or have no need for them doesn't make unsuitable for everyone else.

MacBook Airs do not have anything approaching excellent viewing angles. But then I don't get the purpose of 17 inch laptops, or a DVD burner in 2014.

As for ios8, no issues except Safari ended up getting worse than on 7, more crashes, more failure to get data until you force close it..

Ah, my MBP has excellent viewing angles. And for the 17" laptops and whatnot, its good one has options.

Any issues will be patched shortly.

My 17" laptop is very mobile. I close the lid, put it in a case and take it wherever I want. The same as I would a 13". The viewing angles are fine. I can also hook it up to my HT system with the HDMI output to view anything on my flat screen. My laptop is over 4 years old and came with Intel® Core™ i3-350M processor (2.26GHz L3 Cache 3MB) 640 GB HD with Enhanced Intel® SpeedStep® Technology and does everything I need it to.

Just because you can't immediately see the difference or have no need for them doesn't make unsuitable for everyone else.
Not saying they're unsuitable for everyone, it's when I look at what people use them for and what they cost, you can get a perfectly good PC notebook for half the price. I still can't believe my friend bought his daughter a $1,600 notebook to surf the web.

BOOBS!!!!
One consideration, if you sell your old equipment, is that apple products hold there value like crazy. Selling my year old used 5s for 520ish. Which is crazy.

If you're just surfing the web, pretty much all notebooks are overkill. Go with a tablet.
