I don't understand why so many people hate them. Their music is great, I have some good memories associated with their songs. So what is it

Musical tastes & likes are extremely subjective...if you have good memories associated with them, more power to you.

But I agree with canada-man...I find their music bland, boring and they're just not what I would call a rock band. Most seem to agree.

I'm a die-hard Prince fan since the 80s...caught a lot of flak from people who in my mind are ignorant to Prince's genius...makes no difference to me. You should feel the same way about your love of Nickelback....let your freak flag fly.

Nickelback uses the same formula that made Bryan Adams and Loverboy rich. Btw, did the singer get a nose job?

Prince has grown with me over time, he's the last great master of funk. And he knows how to rock.

Not to hijack the OP's thread, but no one can touch Prince in a live performance. And one of the greatest guitarists who ever lived.

Fuck Nickelback.

I can understand why funk died out. It's the polar opposite of rap. You have to be a hard core musician to play it. The last funk hit (with Bootsy Collins).

Michael Jackson never wrote in funk, his music was almost white.

Prince had more than one funk hit.

LOL...gotta agree...fuck Nickelback.

According to their WIKI page: "Nickelback has been described as various genres, including hard rock, post-grunge, alternative rock, alternative metal, heavy metal and pop rock. Their earlier sound has been classified as grunge."

At best, they should be described as soft/generic rock...that above statement alone is enough to boil the blood of fans of Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, NiN, The Rolling Stones, The Who etc etc...just a sample of bands who truly fit those genres.

agreed ... when all my friends were freaking out over Michael Jackson I was loving Prince. He's an incredible performer, a talented musician, love him! I even had a pair of purple paisley boots once upon a time!

Nickelback music all sounds the same to me.
A woman after my own heart.

Your ultimate MILF GFE!
Nickelback's early stuff was good. I have seen them in concert and it was AMAZING! Since then.......meh.... Seems to be the case with some bands. They start off really good then go mainstream and stuff all sounds the same.

Love me some Prince! I love it when "Kiss" comes on in the car and one of my kids is in the passenger seat and I sing right to her in my terrible singing voice. They hate that.......haha!

It's another Gary Bettman anti-Canadian conspiracy.

Nickleback is a metal band that cashed in on rock ballads.... I like some of their songs but don't think they are a great talent.

I grew up in Minneapolis and used to see Prince before he became famous at First Avenue (think Purple Rain). He hung out in the same nightclubs I did, when he hit it you'd know if he was in one club because they would play 4 MJ songs in a row (I think to piss him off). He's the real deal from a talent perspective.

Insane...a performance to melt your face...can't wait for Prince's upcoming tour for his 2 new albums...seen him 7 times (once in a small club for an after-party) and will never get enough.

Very cool...I visited First Avenue a couple of years ago when I was in town and of course, Schmitt's.

Originally written and produced by one of the most famous bands in Canadian history, The Guess Who, back in 1970. This song is 45 years old. And still awesome, especially whem performed by these artists.
