here and there
Metrolinx is completely out of touch. What's the point of building a taxpayer funded project then charging so much tat the average person can't afford to use it? Morons.

It should be 25 return, 15 one way, and yeah employees and frequent flyers should be able to get a monthly pass at a reasonable price, say $300 for unlimited rides.

This is the same line that will solve the the issue of island airport expansion? And add a 2 buck levy for "not parking"....

And they wonder why Porter does so well.......

You could make this line free for a lot less than the money the city is being asked to donate to the island airport expansion.

Porter could fly out of Pearson, do not confuse the airline with the airport.

Another public private partnership, where the private sector took advantage of the public sector, which is totally incompetent and keeps changing its mind.

I'm not aware of the new rail link to the airport being anything other than a Metrolinx (aka GO Transit) project.

Who is the private sector entity?

Do you mean the cost to build the airport link? Because it's cost billions. Just the Toronto West Diamond Grade Separation (GO Transit tracks over CPR tracks) has cost a cool billion.

I would say even less than that.

10 bucks each way.

Done.

I knew from the start this scam would cost close to 30 bucks. Make it a double fare payment of $6 like on other express routes.

If public transit riders are expected to pay the full shot, how about forcing drivers on our roads to pay the same?

I said it before and I'll say it again.

And how convenient/affordable is it really for two people travelling together. Eg. Say my wife and I are flying out of Pearson and decide to take the UP Express. We gather up our luggage, walk 3 blocks to the streetcar (hope it's not raining or snowing), transfer to the subway to Union station. That would take approximately 30 minutes. Add on up to 45 min. from Union to Pearson and you're looking at 1 hr. 15 mins. and as much as $66 for two people. A limo is the same amount, goes door to door in the same time frame without having to haul our luggage everywhere.

If there's 3 of us it would be $200 round trip. Crazy!

Heathrow express is £36 return (call it $70), but that's London and it's a fantastic experience.

El train from ORD to the loop is about $5 each way.

That's one hell of a train ride for $5.00. And across an ocean to boot.
Ok I will explain what "onthebottom"said for you.The elevated train in Chicago goes from O'Hare airport to downtown Chicago for $5.00 USD.

Where you got the "across the ocean" part from...I have no idea.

I mean if they offered the tickets for free it would eliminate the need for an expansion of the island airport, and the lost ticket revenue would be way less than the cost of expanding the island.
