I receive this type of calls quite often although I am on DNC list. I don't think that list is effective since the calls are usually from oversea like India or Parkistan.

It depends on my mood how I react. When I am cool and calm, I'd ask him for his phone no. so I could call back when I am not busy. This usually ends up in a quick click and that's it. Or I simply say I am not interested and hang up.

When I am in a foul mood, I'd scream "F...off" and hang up. lol...

I have a high pitched whistle I blow into the mouth piece and that usually fixes them.

Her place
I still get calls from the duct idiots.
I finally decided to mess with them to see how long I could keep them on line.
This was early July at tail end of Blue Jays losing streak.
They call tell me who they are.
paraphrasing ...
I said 'hey how are you' .... more exchange then 'do you think the Jays should part with one of their young pitchers ?'
'What'
'Well you know we need another starter, who would you go after ? what would you give up to get him ?'
'Sir I am calling about your air ducts, it is time to clean them'
'Do you think Rasmus is worth keeping ?'
'Sir this is about your air ducts'
'I would include him in a package because I think Gose can handle being the # one CF, do you think he can be a starting center in the MLB ?'
'Sir I don't understand, do you hear me I am calling about your air ducts'
'Kawasaki is coming around as a hitter don't you think ?'
- click -
Call last just under two minutes.
I tried everything...I said I haven't paid the bills and we're being evicted, said we don't have ducts, its an old house, asked about his family and if his wife is attractive, tried flirting with one guy and telling him, he sounded pretty, tried the yelling/swearing/'threatening route, I even agreed to a consult, had the guy show up, took his picture and a picture of his van and said if you call again I'm going to the police (they called three times the following week).

So far they haven't tracked down my new number and its been a good six months...

If you think that phone call was real, then I have a great part-time job opportunity for you.

Who We Are

TKC Technologies is a privately held business founded in 1999 and located in Saint** Petersburg, Russia.

We specialize in production of small, high precision mechanical parts made of a variety of tungsten carbide, ceramic and metal powders. TKC Technologies maintains an internationally recognized reputation for its unique and efficient approach to the challenges of miniaturization, micro**precision fabrication and perfect mechanical seal manufacturing. Most of our clients are small and medium**sized business organizations based in Russia and other countries in CIS region. Since March 2012 we have been manufacturing products for Canadian companies.

What We Need

We do not have an office in Canada, as well as a Canadian bank account. Now we are facing delays in the process of getting Canadian business visa. Once we receive it, we will be able to open an office in Canada and a Canadian bank account, but right now
we can’t tell you for sure when it will happen. Although we ship our products to Canadian companies (shipping from Russia to Canada) without any implications or delays, we have some difficulties with receiving payments from companies located in Canada.

It takes about 28 days for an international money order or an international wire transfer to clear in Russia. Since we ship our products only after the payment is cleared, our clients have to wait for 28 days for the shipment to be sent. Sometimes it is not acceptable for many clients.
Wire transfer delays belong to the most serious impediments to the progress of business relations between TKC Technologies and its Canadian clients. We have to speed up the money transfer process, that’s the main reason we are currently looking for a Canadian resident to work as a Resident Agent (Canadian Representative) of our company.

Job Description

What candidate are we looking for? We are looking for a reliable and trustworthy Canadian resident who will suit our "Resident Agent" position. Resident Agent will act as an authorized representative of TKC Technologies in Canada.

The Resident Agent has to:

∙ receive payments (inter**bank transfers and money orders) from our clients (Canadian companies),
∙ cash them at a local bank,
∙ keep his/her commission (5% of the payment amount),
∙ transfer the rest (95%) to the TKC Technologies head office in Russia via instant payment system (e.g. Western Union or Money Gram).

An average money order/inter**bank transfer is about $4000** to $6000.

So, if the agent cashes the money order of $5000, his/her commission will be $250 (5% of $5000). Our company usually gets 4 orders per month from Canada. It means that our resident agent usually earns about $1000 a month.

Resident agent position is a good part**time, commission**based position for a student, senior or any other person who wants to earn more money.

There is no start**up cost.
Flextime work.
You can work as a Resident Agent from any part of Canada.
No experience needed.

Why won’t Canadian companies just send instant money transfers (e.g. Western Union or Money Gram) directly to Russia? According to Western Union® Terms and Conditions, “Western union money transfer services can NOT be used as a payment method for purchased goods or services”. Money Gram has a similar policy. We have contacted Western Union and Money Gram on numerous occasions, but they still refuse to send payments for purchased goods. There is no other way to send instant payments to Russia except Western Union or Money Gram. There is no PayPal (or any other) internet payment system in Russia.

Is it legal?

Yes, it is absolutely legal.

We have consulted several law and accounting companies in Canada, and they have verified that it is legal for a Canadian resident to represent a foreign company, get payments on behalf of that foreign company and receive correspondence on behalf of that foreign company.
Both TKC Technologies and the Resident Agent have to sign the “Resident Agent Agreement” stating that the Resident Agent is authorized to represent TKC Technologies within a specified period of time.

Requirements

Availability within 3**4 hours during the day, once or twice a week.
Ability to carry out several tasks considering the deadlines
Must be detail**oriented, accurate and organized
It can be a perfect complement to your present job.

If you are interested in the Resident Agent position, you can email me back with the interview time convenient for you.

I am available from Monday to Thursday, 3:30PM**7:30PM EST (Toronto time).

I will try to arrange the most convenient date and time for the interview.

I am looking forward to hearing from you.

This was a real e-mail I just got a few days ago. I can't believe anyone would fall for this, but we are living in desperate times.

They call me all the time, and I don't even *have* windows, so I know they're lying. This scam has cost a few gullible seniors a lot of money. Not sure how it works.

Probably ask for credit card info to "clean" your pc. What I want to know is how those air duct cleaning callers from India make any money?

A neighbour got one of those Microsoft calls to upgrade software, he let them have remote access to his computer. Then it was $200 to 'upgrade Microsoft products' on his computer or they would lock it so he couldn't use it. He told them to stuff it, they locked his computer and it cost him $200 at Staples to fix it.

Never let anyone have remote access to your computer unless you are the one that called them, ie. tech support.

Agreed, but its hard not to...I don't know if its regional or they call everywhere, but we had to change our home number twice because of the air duct cleaning motherfuckers. They'd call every day no matter what we said the day before, and we're on the DNC list.
Sometimes those air duct cleaning motherfuckers would call back with two hours, sometimes three times a day. I'm on the DNC list too and it didn't slow the air duct cleaning motherfuckers down. Eventually the calls stopped, or maybe it was because I unplugged the home phone and gave people who needed to reach me my mobile number....

This is a scam. They called me last week and said my Windows system had problems. I have an Apple that does not run Windows. I told them off and hung up. There is another scam out there. A couple of days ago I had some problems with my Apple. I googled Apple Helpline and got a toll free number that I believed was Apple customer support. A gentleman with an Indian accent I could barely understand told me that Apple computers are not very good and are only compatible with Apple products. He told me he could give me a great deal on a Windows computer. I told him off and hung up. Be careful out there.

It's easy to string these tech support callers along just by playing along. When they ask you to click the start menu, tell them that you don't have a start menu, when they ask you to click, then ask them what they mean by clicking, etc. etc. Sooner or later they get frustrated and hang up.

I have received a few service calls from clients who have let them get control and then they realized it wasn't right and hung up and turned off their computers.

However what they do now is increase your security settings and password it right away as soon as they have control. Takes a couple of hours to crack the settings and get it cleaned off.

Warn any seniors in your families not to take the calls and to hang up on them. The are a bunch of sleazy pricks who pry on the elderly.
