No - not botched. The convict ended up dead. Assuming the condemned was not wrongfully convicted, an execution is only botched if he didn't die.
The plumber's torch ignited your house and burned it to the ground, but the pipe he soldered didn't leak, so his job wasn't botched. Woulda been a botch only if the joint leaked.

I've often thought that strapping high explosives to the victim's head and lighting it off, while gruesome, would actually be quite quick and quite humane. You wouldn't feel a thing. Firing squad, hanging (especially Iranian style), gas chamber, electric chair - you are going to suffer.
Thus demonstrating for the world that you and your sort of state were every bit as evil and despicable as any murderer you so gruesomely tortured.

Firing squads are pretty messy, plus there are several people involved, Firing 5 or 6 rounds into a mans chest from a powerful rifle is a very messy affair. I think if they used Nitrogen they could also use the organs for transplant, as opposed to lethal injection.
Too bad it couldn't have been a 6 or 8 hour execution. Televise as a pay per vue. Proceeds to victims families.
