Did Kathleen Wynne get a majority mandate by taking on Stephen Harper? Ottawa has been pushing through a number of ideology driven bills including C- 36. There is a hard and fast rule when it comes to winning elections:

I may have thrown a knuckleball: Goldberg is Ontario, not Kathleen Wynne.

Tim Hudak's 20,000 jobs plan didn't pan out, that's how many jobs you actually get if you do the math properly. It's a huge risk when you run a campaign on a smokescreen and Hudak ( I'm dropping the Jethro tag, won't kick a man when he's down) got his ass kicked. When voters see through a smokescreen you're in for a world of hurt.

Pegging this provincial Liberal win to Harper is only marginally more realistic than putting the 2015 federal results on the back of Wynne. Both of which are only slightly less convincing than my insistence that my sperm tastes like chocolate ice cream. No really. It does.

Yes it was a clear message to Federal Cons that Canadians don't want their secretive undemocratic destructive actions anymore and in the next federal election they will be next to be voted out. I personally voted for the liberals (even though originally I planned to vote for Hudak) to send a clear message from Ontario to Harper.

Your anecdotal evidence aside, I just ain't seeing it. It was a clear message that Hudak has all the charm of a cabbage but none of the intelligence. If he could do math, he would have got more of the center/center-right vote than he did. And it was a clear message that Horwath was a fucking opportunistic shit for forcing an election over what was essentially an NDP budget. If she wasn't such a politician to the core, she would have got more of the leftie vote.

What it was not, was a ringing endorsement of Wynne : even though it is a Liberal majority, I'm seeing that most people who voted for her are "meh" about the libs and simply pissed at the NDP and scared shitless of Hudak. And what it also was not was a clear message from the masses of Ontario that even though we've been swallowing endless miles of Harper's shit for years, now that he wants to make it illegal to pay to fuck someone he's crossed a line. TERB voters notwithstanding.

1. The very notion of laying off 100,000 government workers was nuts. If Hudak was smart, he would not have tossed out a number like that. He could have talked about out-sourcing, or efficiencies, or even just a hiring freeze and attrition, but laying off 100,000 people? Nuts.

2. There is no doubt in my mind that Ontarians are sick and tired of Harper. The man (Harper) is extremely bad for Ontario. We've all seen it in how the only thing Harper worries about is Alberta and his right wing social agenda.

3. If you're going to look at Harper, maybe you need to look at Rob Ford as well.

agreed. The irony is that he wouldn't have had to lay nearly that many off. Most of that number could have come from attrition.

Remember McGuinty broke a record number of promises in the first there months in power, one or or two every week. Wynne must ensure confidence and not mendacity like McGuinty did. With the number of promises she made, it will be hard for her to please everyone and there will be a likely backdraft of broken hearts after the 18 months when she will be forced to make Hudak like cuts to balance the budget as any premier would have to do.. She still has the gasplant monkey on her back, which may even force her regsignation if the truth comes out. She will can ignore the NDP now with her majority, but not entirely. Ontario is big, but it is not all of Canada. Harper would get another majority likely if the election was held tomorrow, even without Quebec, or the Wynne dynamic for that matter. The sex trade and proposed laws will soon to be the law of the land and a very weak federal election issue, if any issue at all.
