It seems to me that the CAW / UAW use to play this game, targeting one auto maker, forcing them to lose market share through strikes & then forcing the other two to sign a simpler deal or elseAlberta is the most conservative province in Canada. $100K per annum isn't alot of money? Are you mad? If you earn that much in a year that puts you in the top 10% of wage earners in Canada. I don't mind if a lawyer, accountant, engineer or doctor makes that or more - the amount of education & training they have had in their disciplines demands that. Not so much when it comes to nurses, teachers, librarians, administrators and other middle managers. Not to mention TTC ticket collectors, bus drivers, garbage collectors....The last time this topic was raised from the dead, it was finally realize that $100,000 isn't a lot of money, especially after so many members piped up that they were also included. There are far more people than firemen, policeman and teachers who make $100 G's, nearly a 100,000 in Ontario Civil service alone. I wonder how mnay in the private sector belong. The concentration on first responders salary, nationwide, by the author makes it clear that this is an agenda driven piece, basic sour grapes and far from balanced reporting.

They are paid 12 over 10 meaning their 12 month pay is calculated over ten months. Support staff ie secretary's etc have to go on EI every year knowing they are going back to work in mid August. My sister who is a secretary usually goes back to work before she gets her first EI payment!Teachers DO NOT get a pay cheque during the summer months when they are not working.

Well they went on to give Canada the highest % of Post Secondary grads in the world. I think that is pretty good proof. Canada is always top 5 in OECD-PISA testing of 65 OECD nations. There were hearings when John Snobelen Tory education minister tried to bring school back one week early in August. Both business and the parents kicked the shit out of him and he withdrew the idea.My post

Go look at the record. Does it not seem passing strange to you that not one MPP let alone one party ever raises the issue? It is because more school is not popular FFS.
