Self-promoting self-congratulatory bullshit from one set of teachers to another
Why do we have so many drop outs?
Why are kids so ill prepared for the real world?
Why do so many lack the need skills?

These are true questions that should be answered when accessing the value of teachers & the education system
We have never had fewer dropouts you might want to pick a topic where you have a clue.

According to what metric? Do you have a way to put economic dollars to the impact of teachers for the next 40+ years of their students lives?
It is the public that demands the school year be 9 months not the teachers.

No, it's the department of education that controls the length. The reason for this is overdue to be revised, which is being considered in a number of provinces.

Except that is not the argument you keep putting out.

You have repeatedly said that teachers are overpaid because of the number hours they work as if you are a communist claiming all work is equal. Now you are saying it's because the economy.

If that's the case, you must support teachers getting raises when the economy is doing well. Of course if you look at the reality of the past, teachers had their pay frozen for 15 years, from Rae through Harris. After that they got raises right in line with the rest of the public sector and behind many in the private sector.

I hope that kids have good teachers now or else our economy is screwed for generations.
The point is that their wage does NOT reflect their time in the building,... you know,...actually teaching,...WAY out of line for work performed.

Once again the screwed up union math on the teachers "frozen" wages,...their wage is continually going up,...which is NOT the case when wages are frozen in the private sector.

If you think we have a good education system now for preparing students for the real world,...I sure as hell would not like to see worse.

BULL SHIT.

Teachers are continually pushing for more prep time etc,....why the hell not stay a full day like the rest of the population,...and show up during the 2+ weeks at xmas and 2+ weeks at march break, and the PA days scam.

OH, I know,...because that's what they blackmailed us for in their contract.

UT #16 in the world. UBC and McGill all in top 50 Canada punches way above its weight class. The world is rather impressed and sending exlerts to see how we do it.
Added a little something to your post.

"UT #16 in the world. UBC and McGill all in top 50 Canada punches way above its weight class, by paying its professors the highest wage in the WORLD,...!!!"

Mind you,...they only have their jobs guarantied for LIFE,...so what do you expect,...???

The world is rather impressed and sending experts to see how we do it, while pumping out useless diplomas."

Try running an economy without a high quality education health infrastructure system. Public services are actually a service to business. They need to be seen as investments not costs.

Again, based on what metric. If you are judging salary based solely on the number of hours in the building many CEO's and managers are in for a nasty surprise. I work from home about 10% of the time. Maybe I'm being over-payed too. Value of a job is not measured by hours but rather the value of the work (which teaching has no simple measure) and the cost of recruiting good candidates.

Once again the screwed up union math on the teachers "frozen" wages,...their wage is continually going up,...which is NOT the case when wages are frozen in the private sector.
I don't know what kind of numbers you are making up but teacher salaries were frozen from Rae through Harris.

I think schools put too much value on going to University but as with most things, it is society's values driving things. And as I mentioned, Canada does very well on international testing.

Of course first of all there is no Department. Been a ministry for decades. Catch up. Second. Ministry under political control of MPPs who respond to public that wants 2 months off in summer + 2 wks December 1 wk Mar. Get the fuck with it.

Your full of shit once again,...regular working families,...hate having to find some one to watch their kids during the teachers paid time off.

IF the MPPs responded to the public,...the teachers would have to "work" as long as the average family does,...for the same excessive pay they get per year now,...obviously.

Displaying your lack of reading ability or AVOIDANCE MAN traits again,...the point was that private enterprise supplies the capital to support education and health care.

With out private enterprise,...there would not be the funds available,...but of coarse that only applies to free countries,...!!!

Total nonsense of course. Tory Snobelen tried to bring teachrrs back ONE WEEK earlier in August. The parents nearly killed him as did the tourism industry and all the business' that hire students in the summer.

The Tories quickly abandoned that stupid idea. Next time you have a brain fart think about all of the people who DONT want a policy change.

I have said all along that teachers are overpaid period
The 2 1/2 month of paid time off is extra salt in the wound

I do not support teachers getting raises when they are making $85K + gold plated retirement plan in a good or bad economy
The current situation (excessive debt) will force the issue before too long

You are acting like Groggy, implying incorrect statements to others

It puts them in the top 5%-10% of all Canadian income earners
If that does not work for then how's common sense as a metric

Is that really the plan you are proposing? Slight pay cuts in exchange for protecting bad teachers? Sounds like a very Hudak like platform.
It beats the hell out giving them to much $ & a job guarantee + a pension the next three generations will be paying for

I don't know what strange reality you live in, but NOBODY other than greedy teachers would complain about teachers starting a week early,...???

Just another of your profoundly ridiculous statements,...keep them coming,...!!!.
