York Regional police have arrested a second man in a prostitution sweep that nabbed a London man, and they’re still looking for other victims.

“The original investigation revealed that the accused were working in more than one jurisdiction, the York region and the London area,” said Det. Sgt. Peter Casey of the York Regional police drugs and vice unit.

“We believe that it is important to release the photographs of both accused to determine whether there are any further victims out there who are willing to come forward to the police. It is very difficult for these victims to gain the trust of the police and sometimes it takes time.”

The investigation began in October after a woman escaped from a hotel room in York region and said she’d been forced into prostitution.

In January, London police were conducting their own probe of the sex business, and trying to help a local sex worker, when they came across one of the wanted men.

Londoner Lucas Gabrys, 24, was arrested and has a trial set for Sept. 29 in Newmarket on several trafficking and assault charges. At the time of his arrest, York police said they were still looking for a partner in the business.

Justin Zealand, 21, of Caledon, was arrested Monday and charged with human trafficking, procuring to have illicit sexual intercourse, exercise control, assault, aggravated assault and uttering threats.

He is to appear in court June 11.

I hope this doesn't add fuel to the suggestion - voluntary sale of sexual favours should be lumped into sexual slavery and banned.

First of all, this isn't bad news, it's good news. They're busted. These are the assholes LE should be targeting and the ladies and gents in the biz should be keeping an eye out for and reporting.
.
Agree... BUT do you really think anybody really gives a $hit. AND before anyone jumps up and says something I have personal experience, so I can attest to the fact that MOST people wouldn't.

They would have come up against someone like me who would hit them like a bull.

That's super vague man. I can't tell if you were/are LE, were/are a pimp, or were a trafficked human

WTH? Those first 2 don't appear to match the stereotype of a violent pimp. They could be university students from the suburbs. What's this world coming to??!

Absolutely, its something we should all be watching out for, to make sure that those working in this industry are there because they like screwing, not because they're getting screwed.

Second, it's not reasonable to ban, outlaw or criminalize an entire group of consenting adults because a few are mistreated. There will be a battle to the SCC again if our rights are infringed upon.
I agree with your points but I find people lump different circumstances together to get a desired result. I remember listening to a debate on polygamy in which the female talk show host was equating it to child brides because of radical Mormons. To me they are two separate issues but for the detractors of polygamy, it was a handy argument. I fear the same will hold true for sex slaves and prostitution.

What is it with the white community that they keep doing this sort of thing?

(Somebody had to say it.)
