No, that's wrong. Radar will tell you the direction. Always. Even if there's only one station. With multiple stations you can triangulate based on distance alone, but radar sweeps and returns azimuth (direction) information as well. Civilian radar is just broad beam that goes straight out, so when the return radar signal that bounced off the aircraft is absorbed by the dish, the radar records the direction and uses math to calculate how long it's been since it sent out the signal to figure out how far. Military radar uses a narrower beam and uses sweep patterns that allow it to isolate exactly which part of the beam is being returned to calculate what angle the aircraft is at, which can be combined with fancy math to determine altitude and distance in a given direction.
True, but that isn't what I was attempting to say.

What I heard was that from the automatic updates on aircraft performance (engine temperature, fuel consumption etc. . . ) that are uploaded to a satellite they can tell from how long the handshaking or whatever went on between the satellite and the aircraft, how far from the satellite the aircraft was but not to which side - that gives the two arcs on the map.

Remember when the soviets down the Korean plane and his the wreckage? I suspect China might have done something along those lines here.

If you are saying this based upon a minor deviation from the original flight plan I'd disagree. If you are saying this based upon the latest information and that it was shot down over Tibet or Xinjiang than perhaps.

My money is on Burma. That's a nice closed government to land and hide the pilots and kill off the whole crew.

Yeah, I put an edit in before you replied (must've been typing it). Somehow my eyes read satellite and my brain read radar. And it's a simple time calculation. The plane says, "Hey satellite, you there?" The satellite says "I am, what's up?" The plane says, "Here's some engine info." Take the time between the satellite's "I am, what's up" and the start of the plane's "Here's some engine info" message, divide by two and if you know the speed the signal travels at (which they do), you know how far away it is. Oddly enough, it could be ANYWHERE along the arcs, and the only reason the arcs stop is because they either go inside the earth, which is impossible, or above the altitude a plane can fly at.

Right now, abduction by aliens is starting to look pretty good... odds about the same as any other theory so far proposed....

According to The Mail on Sunday Malaysian police sources stated that the aircraft captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah was a vocal political activist and supporter of Malaysian opposition leader, Anwar Ibrahim. Supposedly hours before the flight took off he attended Ibrahim's sentencing for five years on what many consider trumped-up-charges, as part of a long-running smear campaign.

Now whether this goes to a motive or is merely Malaysian authorities engaging in CYA, I don't know.

The Great Pyramids were built by aliens not the
Pharaohs (and slaves). To some people it is easier
to believe Nazca lines was a creation for ancient
astronaut landing rather than artwork of ancient
civilization. Should this mystery of the misssing
Malaysian airline remain unsolved to the satisfaction
of the credulous we will have to live with the alien
abduction theory.

Shit, a pissed off pilot flying a fully loaded 777 is a scary combination. He could have crashed that plane into that tall office building.

Watching CNN, everybody now seems to conclude that one or both of the pilots, possibly together with some other(s), took control of the airplane and flew it for 7 hours. Further, the americans now say that they think the plane flew south in the indian ocean.

I find it hard to believe that these people would go to all this trouble, and then fly towards nothing for many hours. I think it is more (not a whole lot, but more) likely that some country shot down the plane by mistake and are keeping it secret.

The architecture and engineering of the Pyramids is staggeringly complex for ancient and relatively unsophisticated builders.

The Nazca lines are unexplainable unless seen from substantial height only possible by flight.

And there are so many other mysteries which are unexplainable by our "conventional" ideas... such as, how do you explain the frozen jungles of Siberia?

Read the works of Immanuel Velikovsky...

But I don't want to hijack this thread...

Heaven, definately Heaven
Where is that damn plane!?

I think the plane landed in Burma (i.e.: Myramar), Indonesia, Western China, or even in Indonesia.
Iran or Pakistan doesn't seem plausible (but possible). I also think all of the passengers are dead, otherwise,
who could be feeding them (plus children) for 8+ days with a place to shit, piss, shower, shave, etc.? If they
are alive as hostages, then great----they are alive. But Malaysian Air cabin crew girls are hot. Therefore,
we have to assume reality.

I also think there's more going on than what we are being told. I bet the plane was fully fueled and no one
is going after the airport personnel.

There were mainly Chinese on this plane, thus I think this was a terrorist attack against China specifically
as Russia kicks Crimea's butt with a Hussein (and a "like your doctor, keep your doctor" liar to all Americans
to begin with) in the White House.

If hijacked, was it North Korea pretending to be Chinese? Or the pilots screwed in the head (making me think Burma)

Who knows, it might be in Malaysia-----bet it's there. Who's going to trust the Malaysian PM anyway?

And today we're living with all of this social media Millennial goodie two-shoes shit that think everything is kissy-poo.
And that's not good either.

I mean.....that's really what it is.

Gyaos.

There's no way it's fully fueled. No airline would send an aircraft on a 6 hour flight with 22 hours worth of fuel. It's not happening. Not ever.

Was last heard from at 8:11 that day apparently. Indian Navy has been asked to stand down, which means they think the plane went south...

Heard from by whom? The last confirmed contact was 1:27, the last data transmitted by the engines was 1:07.

I'm not sure why you're saying the Indian Navy is standing down. Last I heard, within the last half day, they were "intensifying efforts". They were standing down a few days ago, and cited confusion and disorganization from Malaysia's government as the reason, but the recanted on that shortly after. Unless something has surfaced recently and they've gone from stepping up efforts 16 hours ago to standing down.

The Malaysian PM might be saying that they had satellite contact with the plane at 8AM, but he's said a lot of things in the past few days. The only thing that would be sending data without the crew knowing about it is ACARS, and that's only because they might think they had turned it off via a menu system using the MFD's. But there's a component of ACARS that can only be turned off by climbing into the electronics bay. That's the only thing I can think of that would be transmitting. But it wouldn't transmit to the Malaysian government, it would transmit to Rolls Royce, and they have made it very clear that their last message was from 1:07AM. So unless the crew left ADS-B on (which would've made this search really simple) or it had some other form of communications system that no one wants to mention, the PM is either not giving us all the information of he's making more excuses.

What's the motivation for a hijacking that no one claims responsibility?

8:11 was the last handshake contact. The US is handling the investigation of electronic signals from the plane so at this point it is pretty solid data. I think the Malaysians are also reining in their communications . 2 hours agos Indians announced they were putting their search on hold are the request of the Malaysians.
