York University shooting injures 2 women

Toronto Police are on the hunt for a gunman after a shooting at York University late Thursday.

One woman was reportedly shot and another injured by debris that fell as a result of the shooting around 10:45 p.m. in the food court of the student centre.

"A firearm was discharged at York University’s student centre late last night," a statement on the university's website posted early Friday read. "Two people are reported to have sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Toronto Police Service is investigating and has advised the campus can resume normal operations."

Police are searching for a suspect who fled the building on York Blvd., near Keele St., but have not released a description of the shooter. According to a social media post, a witness described the shooter as female
