Scotland's secessionist vote is scheduled for September 18, 2014 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-21828424). Should the secessionist win, I doubt David Cameron (unlike Abraham Lincoln) will unleash the dogs of war.

I also expect, in our lifetime, the good people of Northern Ireland will vote to re-unite with Ireland. This opportunity for re-unification is enshrined in the Belfast Agreement. One Ireland, united under God. Maybe Martin McGuinness will realize his lifelong wish to be President of a United Ireland.

Thought it sounded familiar. We been over this 'interview' before and chucked it out with the rest of the crap. He blames Sandy Hook on Prozac for one.
Destroy? Not much of a debate there - just a platform to do a whole lot of yelling.
Alex is right, foreigners like Piers come to US and tell Americans what to do. America was always about the right to own firearms.

Piers Morgan isn't the only American that shares his views.

There ought to be limits. It's a joke to think that the U.S. has to protect itself from itself. It doesn't make sense after the American Revolution. That means that the world's biggest and most powerful democracy is not a secure democracy.

Don't know what clip the OP was watching cuz this gun nut in NO WAY "owned" Piers Morgan. All he did was rant and rave and make himself look like a complete whack job.

Piers didn't even have to debate (not that the goofball would even listen long enough to have a rationale conversation), he just let this goof make himself look like an idiot.

Piers Morgan: Game. Set. Match.

Agreed!

He's proved months earlier than this thread that his understanding of US history is greatly wanting. I can think of five unique reasons of the Civil War, not just the southern states wanted to leave and the northern states didn't want them to, but then we above to remember RS is not a details kind of person. He's a big picture guy. I'll let the US members more knowledgeable than I to set him straight.

Not an expert on American history but I can say that the central theme of the recent movie Lincoln was that the Civil War was more about saving the Union than Emancipation.

Sad to say: When a president of that republic sends in federal troops to kill people who don't want to remain in that republic.
I don't think that's a relevant criticism today.

Let bygones be bygones (although see my previous post).

How many of these referendum have occurred in the your life time? The total of support has not been much higher than 35/40% ever n any referendum. The Scotts have been told if they wish to go they will be allowed, so your prediction is pretty safe, not need to stick you neck out. Charles II learned that one too late.

When did this debate takes place? Even Glenn Beck think s Jones is off on this point. Jones is a conspiracy theory nutcase. Fake moon landing and 9/11 are two of his favourite ones.

How did his petition to deport Piers go?
Oh yes, because we should automatically believe they are true and have governments dictate what we believe. And you realize shit like that (lies/conspiracies) DOES happen? See MK Ultra Project, Northwood, Reichstag, etc. Jeez.

Could you put that in plain English.

So how is the petition doing?

Piers Morgan's show cancelled by CNN

Piers Morgan Says CNN Show Has Been Canceled

Morgan, the successor to Larry King at the 9 p.m. hour, told The New York Times that network president Jeff Zucker made the decision to end "Piers Morgan Live."

Piers Morgan's three-year run as CNN host of his news show at 9 p.m. is ending.

"It’s been a painful period and lately we have taken a bath in the ratings," Morgan told David Carr, The New York Times media columnist, who reported that Piers Morgan Live will "probably" see its last episode air this March.

Morgan, the successor to Larry King at the hour, had hosted Piers Morgan Live on the network since January 2011. Morgan told the newspaper that CNN president Jeff Zucker had made the decision to cancel the show.

"I think I can credibly do news and the ratings reflect that, but it is not really the show that I set out to do," Morgan told the Times, adding: "I’d like to do work -- interviews with big celebrities and powerful people -- that is better suited to what I do well and fit with what Jeff is trying to do with the network."

Since the school shooting at Sandy Hook elementary in Connecticut in Dec. 2012, Morgan had used the show to advocate for increased gun control legislation and hosted many debates on air about the topic

I believe in a JFK Assassination conspiracy (not by everyone) and a cover-up (could be benign based on threat of WWIII) and that the CIA at a certain level was involved, but I don't believe in Moon Hoax or 9/11 conspiracy (certain good questions linger though).

I don't believe in everything that the U.S. government says or does.

However, Alex Jones is too nutty but some of the things he talks about is not bullshit.

I didn't always agree with Piers Morgan but he's too good for main stream U.S. society.

(Incidentally, for the uninitiated, Operation Northwood never got off the drawing board as it was axed by President Kennedy).

Yes, why would he not immediately let anyone who wants to leave - leave. I'm thinking of declaring my house as a free country separated from Canada and as such not under the jurisdiction of Revenue Canada. :thumb:

LOL, pretty much everything Piers Morgan had to say in the gun debate was wrong.

Something like 80 to 90% of all firearms murders in the US are done with small handguns, and idiot Piers wants to ban assault rifles

No it's not.

You're either in denial or ignore the experience of other countries so you can hold on to your guns no matter what.

=============================

Bill Clinton
Canada has shown the world how to balance freedom with compassion and tradition with innovation, in your efforts to provide health care to all your citizens, to treat your senior citizens with the dignity and respect they deserve, to take on tough issues like the move afoot to outlaw automatic weapons designed for killing and not for hunting....

~1995. Address to Canadian House of Commons.

=========================================

P.S. I own hunting long arms. Just target shoot but I don't think everyone should be packing a hand gun without much restrictions.

Except the ones that make the biggest headlines are with assault rifles with large clips.

I'm not defending Alex Jones, but agreeing with Piers Morgan's views and failing to see how his rants were just as bad is a pretty strong indicator of one's ignorance about firearms.

You say you shoot, but you insist on calling semi-automatics, assault rifles. You just buried the needle on my bullshit detector.
