Terror 'Surprise' for Sochi Olympics?

Citing a new "surprise package" for Russia and Olympic spectators, Islamist militants in the North Caucasus launched a new threat to the Sochi Olympics with a purported "martyrdom" video by two suicide bombers who attacked a transit hub 400 miles away.

The video posted on a Chechen extremist site considered a credible platform for militant statements featured two unidentified men before the black flag of jihad and cradling AKMS rifles.

The duo -- dressed in street clothes and without the usual trappings of jihadis -- casually explained that Russians and those attending the Winter Games next month will not be safe as long as forces sent by President Vladimir Putin occupy the North Caucasus region near Sochi, Russia.

"We'll have a surprise package for you," one of the men said in the militants' video. "And those tourists that will come to you, for them, too, we have a surprise. If it happens [the Olympics], we'll have a surprise for you. This is for all the Muslim blood that is shed every day around the world, be it in Afghanistan, Somalia, Syria, all around the world. This will be our revenge."

According to sources BlogSochi in law enforcement, currently in the city of Sochi is a female suicide bomber Ibragimov Ruzana Ahmadievna born in 1991. According to another source close to law enforcement officers, this terrorist was recently spotted on the street outside the Soviet Foreign Ministry representative in Sochi.

Orienting it distributed to all police officers of the resort town, although the source BlogSochi police perplexed how law enforcement previously photographed bomber was on the loose.

Although I suspect that Chechens will attempt a significant terrorist attack during the Olympic Games, I do not believe that it will be in Sochi or any of the Olympic venues.

The only thing that we can know for sure is that any attack of that nature would be called "cowardly" even though the attackers would knowingly die to advance their cause.

Yeah well the Allah I know sanctions and encourages the murder of "infidels" (non-believers). If they could breech the security cordon there is no doubt the Chechen terrorists would strike at the Olympics directly but they will have to settle for something outside the immediate area which is a strong possibility.

That was a horrible event.
If the Chechins dare try to pull anything off on Putin's games, I can see nukes happening on Chechnya or something worse.

Russia has huge problems, decaying infrastructure, runaway AIDS, rampant alcoholism and a birth rate in freefall. Putin's solution to these problems is to look for scapegoats. The only people getting rich are the security apparatus and the Russian mafia. The cost of staging the Sochi Olympics is double the London Olympics. Due to his bullying, Putin has radicalized the entire North Caucasus, not just Chechnya. Whatever atrocities that occur he has brought on himself.

And don't forget the Boston Marathon bombers were not Chechen, they were from Dagestan. A bigger and much more troubling region.

If something happens during the Sochi Olympics I suspect the ripple effect will be horrifying.I would go so far as to say it would have as big(if not bigger impact) then 9/11 in terms of world changing dynamics over time considering the parties involved

Putin was already warned last year by Prince Bandar bin Sultan of Saudi Arabia that the Saudi Intelligence Services control many of the Chechen groups and that he guaranteed attacks in and around the Olympics if the Russians did not stop supporting the secular government in Syria. Putin told the Saudi prince to fuck off and stepped up support for the Assad regime in Syria.

Since it is now out in the open that the Saudis are bank rolling most of the jihadis in Syria you can count on there being at least one major attach near Sochi. You can also count on some major retaliation from Russia. When you hear of the first attack you better be long on oil this spring.

The US already have ships located in the Black Sea for the sole reason of bringing the US contingent back safely if trouble breaks out. They have a contingency plan in place. I have not heard a peep from the Canadian government. Has the Canadian government commented on this situation yet?

Those ships and others are positioned for the coming Russian equivalent of the gulf of Tonkin incident-. Cda, us and nato are standing by to lend assistance to Russia and to fight with them in the middle east to end these terrorism threats for ever- this has been planned for over two years
