Help booking a hotel room

Ok, so I am trying something new - visiting with an SP for an outcall.

I do not have a venue where we can play , so I will need to get a room for our rendezvous vous.

Typically this shouldn't be a big deal, but here are the restrictions...

I don't want to leave any paper trail. I would like to pay cash for the room. I realize some hotels may allow that, but they also always ask for a card to put a hold on for incidentals

I could get a prepaid Visa card and book the room through a website. However how do I get past putting down a card for incidentals.

again, I thought of using a prepaid card for that too however I have heard that some hotels will put a $500 hold and I don't want to put that much money into a prepaid card.

I'm sure I am over complicating this... But any thoughts would be appreciated!

There is no paper trail by using the cc for booking and checking in, as long as you pay for the room and any incidentals with cash when you check out.

I've never had an issue with a prepaid cc at a hotel and the most I have ever bought was $300

Maybe ask about paying the escort cash upfront to book the room, and letting her use it for further appointments?

I wouldn't trust third party guys like copy craig with any personal info.

Agree. If they take your cc for incidentals, then no charge should appear on your statement. You'd have to do some serious digging to find that info. Just make sure that they don't inadvertently charge your card, because
They are ao used to that. Tell them when you check in that you want to pay the room up front in cash. They can keep the cc in case you chose to raid the mini bar, but room is paid for.
I've also heard of people with no cc getting rooms by leaving a cash deposition checkin.

the CC hold is gone the next day and I've never had an issue. Some hotels are better than others at taking it off right away but as long as you don't have a joint CC account and electronic banking, it would be gone before its noticed. "DougalShort" is bang on. If someone is searching that hard, they'll find you another way anyway.

Another suggestion: Day rooms. less than half the price (as long as you're gone by 5 or 6)

Great way to go, you may need to call three or four hotels to find one with vacant rooms if there is something big going on in the area you want but usually easy to find a nice place for decent money.

From some of the things I have seen Copycraig post on other boards I don't thing I would ever use his service. I've never needed a Pre-paid CC but can you not get them at banks and payday loan places? No idea of what they charge for the service but as others have said just use CC for the hold and pay cash when you leave.

as far as day rooms, I only need them in the heart of downtown and during TIFF that ain't gonna happen, Fridays and Mondays are sometimes a little harder to come by as well. Winter though? always rooms and you're exactly right, much nicer places than the same money will get you for a full night, which you don't need anyway

I have three cards. My Amex and Chase Visa never show holds on the internet banking site. In fact it usually takes actual charges a few days to show up.

My Capital One internet banking shows holds and pending transactions pretty much instantly, and often they stay there for ages before they are flushed out.

Of course, if you have a shared account with an S.O. I can see why you're concerned. If you never use the card at hotels, the hold alone could be enough to trigger a call from the CC company's fraud department.

Otherwise, the risk is pretty minimal compared to all the other risks you take doing this sort of thing. Personally, my paranoia was that somehow someone would spot my car in the hotel parking lot when I had absolutely no legitimate excuse to be there.

As an aside, a buddy of mine told me that he booked a room at a downtown hotel a while back to meet up during the day with a girlfriend on the side. The hotel wanted to know his full name, and her full name before they would give out two room keys. Apparently you had to have a key to get in the elevator in the lobby.

I feel your pain though. I'd say that 90% of the time when I see an ad from an SP that REALLY appeals to me, it turns out that she's outcall only.

Depending on the place, you can leave a deposit. I ran into this problem about a year ago and it was the local Holiday Inn or the Comfort Inn that just wanted a deposit and photo ID. I never went for it, but they told me that I could get my deposit in the morning when I left. Someone would have to check the room before they gave me the deposit back. I'm sure different places have different policies. I can't see most places needing a credit card as long as you have the deposit.

Step 1. Get a pre-paid credit card

Step 2. Book and pre-pay on price-line or hot-wire.

Step 3. Check in with cash for deposit. You can use passport for ID, it does not have an address listed like a licence.

Step 4. When leaving in the morning, check out and get deposit back.

I would call ahead to find out deposit amount, but most times is it not more then $100 since the room is already paid for in advance.

For price-line, you can do their "Express Deals" which gets you a lower rate then normal without the hassle of bidding.

Pre-apid credit cards can be bought at Shoppers Drug Mart for Master card or Esso/Canadian Tire gas bars for Visa. Mastercards make sure to go online and register a postal code, so you can pay online. You can use the remained on purchases to clear out balance. 3V Visas is like printed out phone vouchers that give you an activation code. You go online and activate it. You have to wait 1 hour before activating. Both you can give false info. Use that info when paying for the hotel, but MAKE SURE you book the hotel under the name on your ID that you will use for check in.

For Mastercard, you can use it to buy other things in stores to use up the balance and last I checked they came in $100 and $200 amounts. For 3VVisa, you can buy in small amounts and transfer from one to the other to create the balance you need. So for example a hotel that is $170, you can buy a $150 voucher and $20.

Off the top of my head, the Sheraton, Eaton Chelsea, cambridge suites, holiday inns, and most chains will not take a cash deposit. The comfort hotel (mentioned above) on charles will take a cash deposit and a passport, as will 1 king west and a few others that are escaping me right now. Comfort hotel is 50$ deposit per night, 1 king west is 100$ pernight, plus hst that they don't return. I've tried the prepaid route on a number of sites, like hotels.com, and they recognize the # as prepaid and won't process it, regardless of whether it's registered or not. Perhaps the one mentioned above does, but I've had no success with them whatsoever.

I know priceline takes prepaids without a problem. I know more hotels that would not take a pre-paid card for deposit like the mastercard from Shoppers, but on hotel booking sites, it does not seem to pose a problem. I don't think that even the great Copycraigs would promote 3VVisa {which is a pre-paid visa} if it didn't work so well in this type of booking.

The OP did not say his area and while some downtown hotels may not take cash deposits, there are many in other GTA areas and all over Ontario that take cash deposits. It is why I said to call though before had to find out. However has others have said, even checking in to a hotel with a personal CC for deposit will not leave a trail and the room is already prepaid so no trail there either. If booked via a site like priceline.

It should help the OP out.
