Money can buy happiness...who doesn't believe it can't afford it. I buy happiness...half an hour at a time...

If money doesn't buy you happiness then your shopping in the wrong places.

I was happiest when I was a child yet I had no money and little control over my situation.

Today, the times I'm happiest are when I become child-like - playing games, riding my bicycle and singing aloud.
None of which cost money.

Money buys bacon. bacon makes me happy. so yes money can buy happiness
Then with enough money you can buy enough bacon to be really happy, unfortunatelly enough bacon makes one fat and prone to a heart attack which makes one sad.

I worked all my life to accumulate wealth and I am not sure if money, or more money, will make me any happier. Thoughts?
It could be you are doing something wrong. lol

Seriously though, I do believe money does buy a certain level of happiness.
House paid off.
Vehicles paid off.
Bills are always under control.

You should have attained a certain level of HAPPINESS !

Bacon makes you happy, but twice as much bacon doesn't make you twice as happy.
As with money there is a diminishing return on it.

If I suddenly inherited 10 million dollars would i be happier? Sure. Security for life. Money = time. Not the possessions i could buy. The extra time to pursue interests like family, friends, and hobbies would be what really made me happy. The energy I would have. I spend a lot of my energy at work these days and give my family what is left when I get home, that is the true shame. Living in Toronto is expensive.

Apparently its like sex according to Felix Dennis. When you have it you don't care but if you don't you can't stop thinking about it. I'm talking multi millions here.

I doubt 75k is enough to make people happy.
If I made 75k a year I would estatic.

there is no real right or wrong answer to this question seeing as different things make different people happy. I know for sure having money would make me happy because it gives me the power to enjoy the things I enjoy doing.

It gives you control of your time.

Not necessarily.

I know a multi-millionaire business man who will say, "I have more money than time".

In general, I would agree with you that if it doesn't give you more time, it gives you more freedom of choice and makes things easier to do.

However, I don't believe that it brings ultimate happiness or more happiness. Happiness is relative and subjective.

Both my parents passed away before they made it to 60.

They were lovely, loving exemplary human beings anyone would love to have as parents. The best thing that ever happened to me.

I have inheritances, insurances and properties willed to me that anyone would kill for.

I would give it all back to have my Mother cook one - just one - more meal for me.

Does $$$ buy happiness: ABSOLUTELY NOT!

Some comfort maybe yes. Happiness not.

Don't confuse Comfort with Happiness.

Ditto.
