what does NCIS stand for (tv show)?
Naval Criminal Investigative Service

They actually don't have a particularly good reputation - 'being unable to find their ____ with both hands' but the producers of the show were straight forward when asked why them - saying the Navy goes around the world and if we did the U.S. Army CID or U.S. Air Force OSI (both of which have much better professional reputations) we would have to stick to places where there were bases. As it was the series never went with the exotic locals theme but that was the reasoning.

I do not consider the Swiss Guard to be a military.
Ceiling, baby, it's your thread, so I guess you can consider anything you like. Hard to fool them flies, though.

And another thing. What about Scotland, or Wales? S and W don't have their own armed forces, but they are undoubtedly countries. Liechtenstein is similar to S and W - its military is simply subordinated to Switzerland.

Without looking it up, I do believe that the Swiss guard is not subordinate to the Swiss military. The Swiss guard at the Vatican is so named because in the 15 th. century mercenaries from Switzerland were used as the body guard to the pope. Being a land locked country, not much was happening in Switzerland in the 1400s except for cow herding, cheese making and yodeling. Many young Swiss men became mercenaries. At this time the Vatican recruits the guard from police organizations around the world and no longer take mercenaries.

The answer is El Salvador 21,041 sq. km. (8,124 sq. mi.) and it is still smaller than East Timor at Area Total 14,874 km2
5,743 sq mi

I'm confused! If El Salvador is 21000 sq.km, and East Timor is 14000 sq.km, how is El Salvador smaller?
