Minnie Minosa?
Correct!

Minnie Miñoso had 16 at bats for the Cleveland Indians in 1949, and played for three other Major League teams through 1963, including three separate stints with the Chicago White Sox. He made pinch hitting appearances in 1976 and 1980.

According to Wikipedia, Nick Altrock also achieved this feat, in a career that began in 1898, and ended with a pinch hitting appearance in 1933 at age 57.

What is "The Mel Blount Rule"?
Defensive pass interference. Mel was so big and so fast that he was able to overpower most wide receivers. The league eventually instituted the pass interference rule because Mel had such an unfair advantage.

The French Revolutionaries (1789) defined the new standard metre as one ten-millionth of the distance from the north pole to the equator, on the line of longitude passing through Paris.

This is close enough to be considered correct!

The length of a meter was originally calculated as one ten-millionth of the distance from the north pole to the equator, at sea level, so that distance would be 10, 000 kilometers, and the circumference of the Earth would be 40,000 kilometers, if it was perfectly spherical.

Unfortunately, this measurement is marginally off, (the circumference of Earth is about 40,007 km), and Earth is a spheroid, slightly wider at the equator.
