That's not what got everyone's attention. Besides, "the media" was not hypocritical, they were quoting a police report, which is what they're supposed to do. The mayor is supposed to be able to speak in public without talking about his wife's vagina and how often he goes down on her.
He managed to play word games denying he smoked crack for 6 months, he could have come up with a better denial.
And only a week earlier he said he didn't remember smoking crack because he was drunk at the time. Now he's claiming that he remembers everything he said on another occasion when he was drunk.
He is simply not credible at all.

As I already said, that he said this in a media interview while acting as mayor is inappropriate. Politicians are expected to be politically correct sexless tight asses, and city council's "disgust" and "outrage" aptly maintained that image. Well done councillors. But comments like this aren't restricted to "men in private". Talk like this is pervasive throughout the media and in coffee shops, bars, etc by people of all genders.
And this latest brain fart of his hardly "proves" that he is insane and unfit for his duties. It's small potatoes compared to the other stuff he's done, but sitting on top of that mountain of fail, it looks far more significant that it is. Again, mostly drama and spectacle, which the media loves to feed on... and now they're getting more than enough to eat at home.

I agree with you d_jedi, they are looking for anything and everything to criticize Ford about. They have been doing it since day 1 and will continue to do so until he is out of office. Sure he hasn't helped matters with his candor and his actions, but in fairness to the guy he has had to endure more media exposure than any of his predecessors. Did media continually show up at the private residences of Miller or Lastman? Ford has been followed on many occasions by so called "investigative" reporters. They haven't left this guy alone since he's been in office.
He needs to take a leave of absence to get himself sorted out. He may or may not have an alcohol or drug dependency but that shouldn't play into his decision. Its about optics at this point.

There's a difference between reporting the news and being a news subject.
If he had simply said "pussy", or quoted from the allegations, it wouldn't have been so bad. An accused doesn't have to sink to the same level as his accusers, but that's his choice. My understanding is that Mayor Ford was quoting or paraphrasing a written allegation or rumor when he uttered the word: 'pussy', etc. ; and as I understood it when I watched the media event unfold live, Mayor Ford was commenting in relation to pussy in general and eating pussy specifically when he said: 'I have more than enough to eat at home'.
