You are joking - right ? Your not suggesting now that the police have joined the rest of the world (with the exception of Ford, his brother and super die-hard fans) in a conspiracy to frame an innocent man ?

Users are seldom charged but it's the pushers who police went after. Ford has actually done them a favour because in quietly following Ford & his video - a gang of Ford's associates have been charged with murder, extortion, drug possession and a host of other gang related crimes.
Are you actually defending Ford's actions or is this sarcasm?

Terrible behavior by the media who encroached on the MAyors private property this morning. Swarming his house within feet of his front door and children. Simply despicable.

I think you're confusing a discussion over the fine points of the law with claiming whether or not the content of this video would justify criminal charges.

He'd have to make a comment like "Dude, I'm getting a good hit from this crack".

The Mayor should have videoed those reporters from Day 1 and warned them he'd charge them with trespassing. He could also have been diplomatic and asked for them to speak to him on the sidewalk only before he left for work.

I quite agree. Unfortunately he long ago made it clear that except for a few toadies he'll phone up, he won't give the media any real access or space at all. And he singled out the Star for especially bad treatment because of how they reported on a football story long ago.

Without reasonable rules, you get anarchy.

Anyways, I think he's toast. All Ford can do right now is rearrange deckchairs on the Titanic. But the outcome is inevitable, he's gonna have to resign

Only after a full makeover. With scaffolding, dynamite and heavy equipment. Not to mention a few PDOs holding back the press. Oh but Rob has said he doesn't need the Police.

I don't see Rob Ford's next move.. It seems a lot of Ford Nation (even just here) are realizing that he was likely lying (or that there's only a snowball's chance in hell that he wasn't).

So what's next? Continue denying? Ask for forgiveness? Refuse to speak about it for more than 2 minutes with the press and then simply hide behind some kind of weird shitty line like "I can't comment on an ongoing police investigation"?

I guess it doesn't really matter at this point. There are those in Ford Nation who will stick by him.. But there are likely many more who will feel that the mayor made them look like fools today, and they're going to give their vote to somebody else in 2014 (likely splitting the vote on the right and giving Chow the mayor's seat).

We've seen the press conference at the office and commented on this. We think that if John Tory runs, he might win in a landslide, but yes, the possibility exists that the right of center vote could be split.

Of which Rob has so many! And always so timely! And informative.

The media may be bastards, but they're our bastards, and without them we'd have no choice but to believe the few coherent sentences and lies Rob eventually might deign to let us have.

It took him a week to say he doesn't use crack (was he investigating?) and that he wouldn't comment on the video.

Given that even sloth-like TERBians such as Phil were spreading the news before the Star even tweeted its first mention, I think waiting for a Ford News Conference would be news media suicide.

But I'd support your law banning all media from anyone's property uninvited, but it has to cover YouTube amateurs as well. Not gonna help much with the streets free for all though.

Holy fuck, that's a long report. I started to read it all, but it got repetitive... and I've read enough.

Ford has lost all credibility. I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, due to the lack of (available) concrete evidence, and because I was foolishly hoping a public figure elected by the citizens of this great city, would NOT be:

  • so stupid to partake in such illegal activity
  • be stupid enough to allow himself to be filmed doing so
  • be stupid enough to get caught
  • be stupid enough to deny such things when he did get caught

I guess my faith, (or rather lack thereof), in politicians remains intact.

What clinched it for me, were the statements from the police chief.

The Mayor should step down and own up to the citizens of this city.

well groggy was one, I think Phil suggested he had to possess it to smoke it ... read the thread again dude.. you must have missed some :D
You are mistaken. I have always said the chances of him being arrested were low, and that he shouldn't be arrested for using. But he should resign in shame for doing crack and lying to the city about it.
