A friend won one of these and as he has an I-Pad has offered it to me at a real good price.
This is the white 8gb, 7", android 4.1 model,

I am considering a tablet but was leaning toward the microsoft.

I would appreciate hearing opinions on this device, including what you think a real good price might be.
current retail $180. to $200.

Depends on your needs. I use mine for spreadsheets/presentations/word as well as e-book and movies when I'm travelling so 7" would be a little too small for me.

Thank you for your response!

I'm retired but I can see where that would have been a huge help when I was in the work force.
I take it you are happy with the product.
My needs will be a lot simpler than yours so this may be all I need. I can get it for $100. I'm thinking at worst it will be a great entry level tablet.

I got one of those threw the td bank promotions I ended up giving it to my gf as soon as I got it cause I wasn't impress with it at all. I found it to be lagging in when browsing on a 30mhps wifi connection and playing games too. And I'm not a big fan of the whole privacy issue with google gmail and there google play store.

I have a iPad 2 and iPad retina plus three iPads mini's for Xmas gifts for my nephews all of them by far are better tablets than the samsung tab Even with the a5 chips in the mini and the ipad2 there no lags in browsing and gaming the a6 is a better choice cause it's speedier. I just found the samsung tab to be lacking and annoying.

It's an ASUS with a detachable battery/keyboard, SD memory expansion and USB slot - so it is great for business. If you don't need these kind of features and you can get a good price, iPad might be your best choice. Bigger displays are great for e-books & the Internet.

the hobby needs more capitalism
I'd look at the new Nexus 7 and the new Retina iPad Mini. Both offer much better value.

check out the new Dell tablets about to be unleashed Nov 1. They appear to be a very good value.

The 7" fits nicely up my gf's ass. I found the full size iPad @ 9" caused too many issues for her.

oh sorry wrong thread, thought I was in the BDSM.

ok seriously, iPad is like $900 bucks the the galaxy is like $199, both depending on options. Comparing apples and oranges really.

Sounds like the op just needs something simple but with a real operating system like linux or (god forbid) microsoft. MS is easier to navigate. Maybe even a cheap laptop does the job.
