Ok. I don't have access to a computer right now but when I get home I'll find and listen to the call. Whether he just informed the recipients of the vote or added in rhetoric not to vote for him next year is the key issue I think. In the mean time I'll withhold further comment.

People.....if Ainslie had voted PRO SUBWAY, And Ford did the exact same thing to congratulate the folks of Scarborough for having a decisive Council, who are pushing through a subway......Would anyone care?

I think not!

It is fraud if he's using personal resources and claiming its his personal opinion yet still using the city's Mayoral office phone number.

Its the same conflict of interest issue of him using city resources to try to raise money for his football hobby. Now he's putting out his personal opinion on another councillor as if it were official city policy by virtue of his using the Mayor's phone number.

Had he used his own resources and his own campaign headquarters or home number that would be different. Then its a matter of junk calls and/or spending on campaigning out of elections.

Maybe fraud is too strong a word there, but he is now using city resources (mayor's phone) towards a personal matter (his views on another councillor).
As always groggy you make it painfully obvious that you aren't a lawyer.

Someone is naive in believing what comes out of Ford is the truth ...
Agreed, Frankie isn't the only virgin on this board.

I have bigger fish to fry than Scarborough, were working on having the Spadina Subway extended to Vaughan Mills. Anyone that's driven the Rutherford: Weston-Keele area knows what a nightmare it can be. Julian Fantino likes the idea.

So making a pizza order for pick up on his way home would not be allowed? I mean it's not city business obviously. Personal matter, he's the mayor a city employee paid by the tax payers, nothing he does is personal or private. He should be expected to ask you for permission first.

So would you be ok with all councillors being allowed to make robocalls about the mayor or anyone else that's bugging them?
What about concerned citizens?

What has that to do with anything?
Obviously the last thing Ford needs is more pizza, but he's free to get as big as he wants.

I'm glad you're happy about the use of robocalls for personal opinions.
My Crackstarter campaign to target all of Etobicoke's residents with my personal opinions of Ford is just about ready to start up.
Care to contribute?

The point is the office phones can be used for many things that don't involve city business. The phone will cost the city whether it sits on his desk silent or is used whenever.

Its not the expense, which Ford says he covered.
Its the appearance that the phone call with Ford's personal opinions, funded by himself are city business.
Just like his use of city letterhead to try raise money for his failed football hobby.

Of course. Councillors are an elitist group...Adam Vaughan comes to mind. I would like to see more of this type of contact. Councillors not just in Toronto, but in my town too, would be well served in speaking to the peasants.

Its not easy doing it one on one.....but in this robo format, why not. EXELLENT MEANS OF PERSONALIZING A MESSAGE.

Yes..all Councillors should do it.

Somehow, I think those opposed to it...wouould always be opposed to it under any circumstance, unless it served their interest. If Ford had paid a private company...away for city phones. Would the naysayers still be against it?

So what you're saying is no personal calls on city phones. Something tells me even his cell phone is company property. I guess he'll have to use his assistants cell, oh wait.

So you didn't read the list or you would have said so, figured.

So BlackR......would you be content if he paid for his own private company to send out his message. I presume so?

Why make it more complicated? I'm fine with the way it is. Have an unused phone, use it. If someone calls while you're on, call waiting/p.a. will let you know This was not one of his more obvious face plants.

I did not think he was making it more complicated. In fact, I thought it a brilliant idea, to get out a personal message without using the valuable city time required by the Mayor. It was personal, recorded, and sent out. I thought a good job.

And it was HIS MESSAGE, not one filtered by the likes of the Toronto Star..with an obvious spin!

So then you would have no problem with Ainslie starting a program of privately paid robocalls about Ford and the crack saga?

None whatsoever. As long as the message speaks to facts. Like I say all Councillors should do it....for announcing meetings, to personal invites to city events, to general messaging!

Lets remember the point here.....Scarborough overwhelmingly wants subways...however, their Councillor thinks they should not have it. Is that representation?

So a robocall stating that Rob Ford is under police investigation and refuses to answer questions about it would be fine in your opinion?

Yes it would. I'm fine with facts. However that message is already out LONG AGO. I would hope the message is factual, and not slanderous....and Im FNE WITH IT!

Like I say..it's not done enough!
