Merge USA guns, generational poverty and disenfranchisement, severe incarceration of minorities, polarized and paralyzed government, arrogant and medling foreign policy, no social safety net, higher education for the rich only, over aggressive law enforcing...
with
evolving, nurturing, accepting, non-aggressive, pacifist, educated, low incarceration, low law enforcement and military presence, few gun problems, more reasonable government of Canada?
No thanks.

Oh? What about the myriad of trade disputes the US refuses to resolve, considering the agreed-upon resolution mechanisms sided with Canada? Like for instance, softwood lumber...
Why would Canadians want to join up with a dying empire? Why would any sane and rational human being decide the american political system is preferable to Canada's? fox news anyone?
Quite frankly, go suck up to the koch brothers on their side of the border. Your "ideas" are not wanted, needed, or welcome here.

By the way, there's nothing original about writing a book proposing a union between Canada and the United States -- an expatriate Brit, Goldwin Smith did that in the late 19th century.
He was nearly slung out of Canada for his pains...
Canadians have the same right to be proud of their national identity and sovereignty as any other people on this earth

Amen to that, I also am a proud Canadian and would fight for this Country's independence tooth and nail.

As we watch the U.S. government grind to a halt due to an ancient, unsolvable partisan jihad; and we watch its national debt climb to about a quarter of the world's total GDP; and we watch Fox News & Friends point north to an example of a "broken" healthcare system to avoid the spectre of something that almost resembles humane healthcare - THIS is when you want to make your case that Canada and the U.S.A. should merge? Right now?
