I don't live in the GTA but if she were to be elected mayor...wow,your in a lot of trouble.Be prepaired to hug a tree and see your taxes go through the roof to pay for social housing, daycare, public transit and all the other socialist agenda.Oh, and most likely a carbon tax of some sort.
If you don't live in the GTA, then you probably have no appreciation for the community needs that we in the City of Toronto have. The issues that you listed are important to most of us in the City core and I would have no reservations supporting her if these were on her platform.

Olivia Chow....wow...I guess any wife who finds out that her husband goes to rub and tugs and still chooses to stay with him is either a very forgiving person, stupid, and/or no backbone. Since character assasination is what the left is all about I guess this is a fair statement to judge her on.
The subsidized housing fiasco is another biggie regarding character...ONLY when caught did she start topping up the balance. If never caught I think it is reasonably assumable that they would have continued taking the taxpayers for a ride while living on someone elses dime. Cant say that I respect that trait enough to ever vote for the individual. If she has shown such disregard for taxpayer money in the past why oh why would she start doing so in the future...not to mention the deceitful behaviour??
Onto politics, she will turn around the fiscally responsible nature of the Ford regime and start spending like a drunken sailor in order to gain favour with voters who are so near-sighted that they dont give a shit about deficits and resulting debt. IMO it will be a very sad event if Ms Chow gets elected Mayor of Toronto.
LMAO.....Ford, fiscally responsible? LMFAO

Don't count out the stupid

We have to remember that Chow will have EVERY union in the province, and SID THE SKID MARK RYAN, organising the stupid, and paying for not quite legal anti anybody else TV and THE RED STAR adds.

This can be effective, witness the Mcwimpy election, especially if there are two good center/right, (read responsible) candidates splitting votes.

Chow will also have the support of the tens of thousands of people she rode out on her bicycle to meet and help with their issues over the years.

She has a LOT of grass roots support.

.....I'll reiterate, the toronto electorate are a collectively stupid, like two imbiciles sauntering hand in hand towards a cliff. The "needs of the Core" are actually the desire of guilt ridden white Birkenstock wearing downtown intellectuals who feel its their responcability and our obligation to pay for handouts to the downtrodden, drug addeled and otherwise lazy inner city welfare cases that make up the core of her support. If you want to run a philanthropic city hall, first put your own financial affairs in order and stop with the largess that you simply can't afford. The notion of being a philanthropist with borrowed money is a failed notion.

Its time to end the Rob Ford gravy train, enough of his using taxpayer resources to give his disfunctional high school buddies $130k jobs to answer email.
Enough of him using city resources to fund his football hobby.
Lets get a financially responsible lefty in, who will fund the repairs to the city that need doing, get a subway built (not just the sandwiches) and be able to play nice with the other children.

Assuming RichArd..that she does this with a balanced budget. I presume that is implied in your comments.

The best guaranteed lefty win for the next term is 4 yrs of Rob Ford. He's accomplished nothing and has brought embarrassment time and time again to our city.

You two have just described EVERY government at EVERY level, (be it municipal, provincial or Federal), of the last 30 years, (or more)!!

Substitute Ford`s name with any other Mayor, Premier, Prime Minister, and substitute "city" for provincial and federal resources, and bingo!

Im doubtful she will run.

Rob Ford and the Ford nation machine has a near lock on the next election.
She's running.

She has a campaign team pulled together that likely includes John Laschinger (ran Miller's campaigns) and Liberal strategist Warren Kinsella.

She also has a memoir scheduled to be released early next year, timed for the early part of the 2014 campaign period:

A memoir about what? Has she done anything worthwhile ? My goodness Toronto would appear to again have no viable choices in the next election. On the other hand only free-loaders and nutjobs would want the position so she might fit right. The union leaders must be wetting themselves thinking about it.

-financially responsible lefty,...this should be in text books as an excellent example of a contradiction in terms !!!

-who will fund the repairs to the city that need doing,...wow,...she must of skimmed a lot more that I thought from the trough.

......and what's her campaign slogan going to be? Elect me, I'm the one who used to sleep with "Smiling Jack" that must make me the obvious choice for mayor.
