yikes!
Yet when it comes to the cloak and dagger effort of catching philandering lovers, all high-tech weapons appear to be fair game — at least to the tens of thousands of Brazilians who downloaded "Boyfriend Tracker" to their smartphones before the stealthy software was removed from the Google Play app store last week, apparently in response to complaints about privacy abuses and its potential to be used for extortion or even stalking.
"Brazilians are a jealous people, what can I say? Of course it's going to be popular," said Marcia Almeida, a 47-year-old woman in Rio whose marriage ended seven years ago in large part because of what she said was her husband's infidelity.
"It's a different type of spying," she said of comparisons to the NSA surveillance program. "You're checking up on somebody you know intimately, not some stranger."
The app, called "Rastreador de Namorados" (Portuguese for Boyfriend Tracker), promises to act like a "private detective in your partner's pocket."
Functions include sending the person doing the tracking updates on their partner's location and forwarding duplicates of text message traffic from the targeted phone. There is even a command that allows a user to force the target phone to silently call their own, like a pocket dial, so they can listen in on what the person is saying.
Similar apps are marketed for smartphone users in other countries, including Europe and the U.S., but Boyfriend Tracker is the first that has made any impact in Brazil, a country still irate as it learns
"It's a different type of spying," she said of comparisons to the NSA surveillance program. "You're checking up on somebody you know intimately, not some stranger."

Interesting development in the smartphone culture.

People already use the "find my phone' apps to track each other but here is an App specifically designed for this.

Part of me thinks it's getting out of hand while the other half feels that anyone that is not aware of what's gong on on his or her phone should not be having one.

As to the above comment, I have yet to find a culture where the women are comfortable with their husbands cheating. I would disagree more strongly but I really don't want him to post again in this thread with that vomit-inducing signature pic.

Already in use in NA. Same technology is used by parents to track kids via their cellphones, track inmates and paroled criminals via tracking bracelets/anklets and security guards/money via armbands and tracking inserts. Let this be a warning to you to keep your hobbying phone firmly out of the hands of your woman.

If you are foolish enough to allow your partner to install this on your smartphone, you are screwed even if you have a secret hobby phone...unless you don't take your smartphone when you hobby and risk being out of contact.

I absolutely do not carry any personal or work electronic devices when I hobby. Thankfully I'm not in situation where that is a problem.

How can you even live like that. Reminds me of my friend who's ex boyfriend was jealous to the point that he put hidden cameras in their bedroom and living room to see if she's fucking around when he's not home. That relationship ended pretty quickly once she found the cameras.

the hobby needs more capitalism
More reason to be a man of high value. When you are, women will usually put up with your philandering ways.

Correct. Think of all the politicians and business moguls caught cheating, and you can count the number of wives that left them on your hand. When you have money, power, status, you're indispensable because a woman knows it's next to impossible to find another guy like you. One caveat: wealth can be a wildcard if she's certain to get half in a divorce. Still, when all is said and done, most stand by their man, through thick thin and philandering.

Don't believe everything you see in the news.
Often the wives make a show of sticking around because they don't want their partner to fall from grace and lose his earning potential. behind the scenes it's unlikely he's in a happy place.
