Sure he dragged his feet, but he finally did the right thing. Paid back every cent and quit the senate. Not holding my breath to see whether any of the other buffoons step up.

Mac Harb is stepping down from the Senate, dropping his legal action and repaying the remaining $180,000 the Senate says he owes for inappropriate living and travel expense claims.

Can hardly wait to see what kind of lying cheat gets chosen to replace him.

Of course, the more important question - and one I'm sure you all are wondering about too - is why is Obama remaining conspicuously silent about this?

There won' be any more senators appointed by Harper. I notice today that the Duffy story has gotten worse also: <http://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/wright-worked-with-2-conservative-senators-to-reach-duffy-deal-emails-show-1.1428083>

The others can't resign because they can't afford it without reducing themselves to living like regular people. How could Duffy/Wallen manage without flying everywhere they want to push their causes whenever it feels right to them? They need that sort of "respect" to feel even vaguely human. If they can't be on TV telling us how it is, what is the point? They will hold on as long as they can.

And yeah, why isn't Obama responsible for the Canadian senate problem? I guess he's too busy gassing Serians.

It's nice to see he will or has paid it back. Up until yesterday publically he said he was going to fight it. I guess his was the biggest amount since he had been at it since appointed by Chretien in 2003 or something.

But now the cons will use this as an admission of guilt and put out more ads saying so, while ignoring the fact that the PMO deleted all communications on the matter, pretending they are cleaner.

So what that Harb resigned?
He will get most of that amount back in a couple years a la Senator's pension.
I would be more impressed if he ( and any other senator caught submitting fraudulent expenses) was denied in getting that pension due to this misjudgement.

Except that the "cause" they flew around for was primarily campaigning for Conservative party candidates, and for some reason the invites to do so have dried up somewhat.

Yes, God is good... but they are dumb. Both are sure, I'm sure, that this will all blow over and they will be in demand again, and that their reputations will actually be better after all this. And in the meantime, they need the cashflow so they can sit alone in darkened rooms counting it and chanting "I'm GOOD! I'm RICH! I'm GOOD! I'm RICH!"

You do understand how the PMO and the Senate interact don't you because based on this post it appears you do not.
You do understand that the interactions between the PMO and the Senate are part of the investigation by the RCMP right now because based on this post it appears you do not.

I was first to call out Harb.....A LIBERAL.... Appointed by Chretian....on this TERB board some time ago. He was on the hook for an amount that was more than Duffy and Wallin put together.

I was told that he was innocent because he was 'fighting the charges'

BULLSHIT.

He has finally done what Wallin is doing..that is paying the money back.

this is not a Liberal or Conservative thing. This was an out and out an attempt to dupe authorities by Harb.

AnywAy.....it's over. the Liberal Harb is gone.

And if Bill C7 gets passed..we will see the Senate changes Harper promised.

Bullshit. Would be nice to see these posts that said he was innocent, especially since the facts weren't in for anyone to properly make that claim. The large amount might be a function of his being around since '03, unlike the near rookie Conservatives. Then we have Wallins claiming the audit was flawed and she was misunderstood, but she'll pay the money anyways.

Innocent schinnocent. Same thing.

i was rebuked by those who did not like me calling Harb out....those people claiming he was fighting it and therefore was seemingly not in the same league as Wallin. I was rebuked because, with HArb involved, the anti conservatives could not continue on their rant about Harper.

I CALL BULLSHIT.

Harb steps down in disgrace...agrees to repay over 230,000 and the Liberal Senator continues to face the investigAtion of Breach of trust.

I'm not in a big hurry, but don't take too long looking for these posts. I know I certainly didn't say he was innocent.

You made the accusations half an hour ago.

Be careful, I hear it's the hands that go first and then the short term memory.

What partry was Harb with again, Frank? It's right on the tip of my tongue, but I can't quite place it. Maybe it should be harped on some more. Or Harbed on, as it were.

Any politician from any party that cheats, lies are messes around with the cash should be turfed or jailed, depending on the severity.
Harb is rightly resigning.

The conservatives, however, are making a mess of this issue. Now they've got denials from senators that there was any talk about Duffy and Wallin, though the Post says they've seen emails confirming communication, and the PMO has reported that all emails on the matter 'never existed', which will make the McGuinty scandal seem like an open book.

Turf them all.
