the general rule is not to go crazy with colognes. if overdone/overkill when sprayed on. can actually repel a person instead of attract.

every guy has a wide variety of colognes.

i just wanted the opinion of the terbites on here. many of them probably have experience with a wide variety of colognes.

there's two different versions:

there's l'homme yves saint laurent

and there's la nuit de l'homme.

i like l'homme yves saint laurent.

i dont like la nuit de l'homme.

one description is that l'homme yves saint laurent as having an fresh, woody Floral Musk fragrance.

in other words. it smells like flowers.

my concern is that l'homme yves saint laurent's cologne smells feminine or too feminine. it does come off as a perfume. not a cologne. a girl's smell.

anyone else own this cologne? your thoughts?

I'm strictly a soap and water guy.

I hate all perfumes, hairspray, cologne - it all makes me retch.

Others I like are:

Fendi
Kenneth Cole Signature
Corduroy
Giorgio Armani

I like the ones that smell soapy and clean but not the flowery or sweet ones too much.

Many people are allergic to fragrances and they be banned in the office environment.

Deodorant should be a must for everyone though.

If you like how it smells, wear it. if you don't like the smell don't wear it.

You know what IS very feminine? Asking other guys about cologne.

If I was a woman, I would share my toilet habits with you.

This is actually my fav cologne....i have about 6 that i rotate through but yves saint laurent gets me the most compliments...it works well on my body

Im am a fan of armani code as well...the rest are so so

So 1980ish. The only people I encounter wearing cologne most of the time r new immigrants who r trying to prove they're not new immigrants , and high school boys who also don't shave to prove they're not teenagers.
Any serious person who's in touch with the current trends and fit in with society DONT wear cologne. But the in crowd DO shower every day and smell very faintly of shampoo or unscented soap.

Furthermore, more and more people are offended by strong scents such as cologne and perfume and find that smell as pleasant as skunk.

Cologne is for saps. I like to rub myself with the scent glands of a wolverine before a date. Ain't nothing manlier to be had for money, that's for sure! Now, these scent glads are located anally, so you do have to be careful with how vigorously you rub. Be sure to get ONLY the musk on yourself - nothing says "chump" more than the smell of poop mixed with your musk. Also, it only works with a live wolverine, so avoid bites if you can and feed your new friend when done.

Soap is important for your skin's health, it is not meant to give you a pleasant smell lol. Soap rarely (unless it is a very scented one) leaves a smell that lasts longer that 5 minutes post-shower.

Cologne is essential. Not overdone, but a couple of sprays (one neck and wrist) and you're good to go.

If you want to splurge on the high end brands, anything by Creed or Bond No. 9 are both good options.

For average priced colognes, D&G Pour Homme or D&G The One are both great. I'd avoid Armani/Versace/Boss as they are reallllllyy common.

So article like this from GQ is so '80ish? Note the date. It's all about subtlety. Don't over do it with strength and amount applied. Nothing is more foolish than to lay it on so all in the room get a blast.
