Question why a Porsche? I've driven a few I personally don't find them too comfortable although I drove the 911

I know people that have nice cars like the 911. Most of them take good care of their car and do not drive it in the snow or ice. They all have second and third cars to drive when the weather is bad. Some of these cars are very expensive and some are every day cars you see on the road all the time. The guy that drives a 911 and has a VW Jetta to drive on wintery days is out to impress himself rather than the guy outside his 911.

Panamera or Cayenne
If you are going to buy the Panamera, why not just get a Mercedes S 600 instead. I've never understood the reasoning behind the Panamera. Is there a market for that type of car, when you can just get a BMW 750 or Merc S class? Volkswagen tried that with the Phaeton and stopped making them within the year. Porsche should stick to making sports cars, not luxury cars.

Those who buy a Porsche do not consider comfort at the top of their list as to why they want to drive one. Have you driven one? The power, control, and handling are incredible.

Personally, I think the 928 S4 is the best looking Porsche ever made and sounds like a power sports car. I just can't seem to get use to the new Porsche engines, too quiet for me, lol. I need noise in a sports car.

Phaeton was a doomed attempt to play out of VW league. Panamera is very different and is hardly comparable to S class. Porsche is cool, while Merc is not. They cater to different categories. For example, I bet that an average s class owner is significantly more obese than an average panamera owner.

MPorsche has been in the middle ages as far as the steering wheel goes. Having to reach for the volume control should no longer happen and trying to change tracks on the CD player should only be done at a stop light. I speak from experience on this.
You obviously have middle ages experience if you're still using CDs in your vehicles.

I have an late model porsche and it's a blast to drive. For the poster that mentioned porsche can't build luxury cars think again. They built the fastest most luxurious car of them all in the 80's. That very car was the inspiration for the panamera(which by the way is very popular in the southern states.

I never fail to laugh at myself when driving my car. NONE of the young hot chicks even turn their heads when they see my car...they don't even know what it is. Unfortunately it's only the 50 year old dudes that recognize the vehicle :(.

I don't know, a 600hp engine is pretty cool in my opinion... Panamera can't do that.

When is a person able to afford something? Each person has his opinion. I know a guy that drives a used BMW 5 series car that he can barely afford to have because he has two other cars in the family and this is his almost 12 year old plaything that he has to pump money in for insurance and upkeep. He is a middle manager and can not deduct any of the cost of owning this vehicle. He has the car because it is his idea of prestige and esteem. Therefore he can not truly afford to have this toy. I know another guy that has a Porsche 911 and a Panamera, he off loads the cost and upkeep on to his business. As long as you are in the business where you may need to entertain clients and your business is making money and paying tax dollars to the Gov. this will be allowed. The second guy can easily afford to have these cars since it does not cost him a cent. Many people that have these high buck cars have the cost of the car and upkeep paid for by their businesses.

I do love threads like this...

On the internet I brag that I have tons of money. I ask other people who brag they have tons of money about what I should buy to show people that I have tons of money. I am going to start a discussion on an Escort Review Board to get some really great advice from other people who will brag that they know about cars and drive Porsches.

Buddy, if you can afford to buy a Porsche, find a Porsche enthusiast's website and ask the question there. May I suggest you Google "Porsche Discussion Board" to lead you towards information from people who actually DRIVE the cars - unless of course you are just bragging.

There was a segment on Top Gear where they swabbed several used cars and found mucus and saliva all over the dash board from people sneezing on it for years, urine and feces on the steering wheel from people not washing their hands after going to the bathroom, urine, feces, and vomit on the seats. Never buy a used car, certainly not a high end used car.

I thought you can only write off up to a certain amount monthly, unless you are in business of chauffeuring clients around? 911 plus panamera would be way above that number.
