Well, the protesters might be LOUD but they fail to convince me that my life will be improved should Mayor Ford resign. How will my life be improved, show me the ways? Will my taxes be less? Will the streets be any safer? Will my garbage be picked up quicker? Will my neighbours stop sitting on their porches 24/7?

4000 signed the city hall visitors book saying they'd show up, but I heard, could be wrong, about 400 showed. figured. All talk and no go.

there were close to 400 people there after the actual rally when I was there.

It's more than safe to say more that close to 4000 people were there throughout the day. As I was walking down to City Hall, people were already walking up University wearing anti-Ford pins etc.

I'm not really defending the number of people who made the effort (hell - I missed the rally myself).

One of the best messages I saw was "I am from Scarborough and Rob Ford does not represent Me".

People showed up - (many people showed up).

Drive by Nathan Phillips right now to take a look. It's not even close to the moving chalk tribute to Jack Layton but seeing all the chalk messages actually makes me proud of our citizens.

It's all just symbolic (Ford won't resign unless there's no other option), but it makes me proud that people care enough to make an effort....

People were writing messages and stopping by all-day.

It is totally unfair. For example, if The Star accuses Schlong of possessing a 1" cock, is the onus on Schlong to prove that he doesn't (or does he?)?

I may have a video of me serving your wife and daughter a cream pie that could prove my banana is longer than one inch. :eyebrows:

The only job apart from petty politics Rob has ever had was the year or so he did in sales at the family label plant before the Council election in his Dad's old riding. Lots of lacklustre Mayors (and some fine ones) have been professional pols, and even spoiled rich kids, but speaking personally, it's as if Rob was bent on showing us why most people call those negative attributes and warning signs for voters. Apart from the first few votes in the first few weeks while his bandwagon still had momentum, Rob has had no success at getting anything done at City Hall, and what has been done in fits and starts has been steered by others, by wrenching the wheel away from him even.
The myth that Rob Ford represents the middle class, Timmie crowd got him into power, but in fact he's more entitled the Justin Trudeau.
He comes from money, his father was politician and the only major difference was that Trudeau could actually hold down a job.

Ford's just a rich ass who thinks that he's paying too much for libraries, all because he's never read a book in his life.

Not good enough. Who are the "anti-Fords" proposing as an alternative and how would he or she improve my life? P.S. I would vote for the "Ikea Monkey" if he or she will lower my taxes, make the streets safer, pick up my garbage earlier and get rid of the 24/7 "porchpeople".

Do you hate Ford because he is:

* Fat
* A potential drug addict
* Simpleton
* Not the Ikea monkey
* A liar
* All of the above...

I think Rob Ford will win big in the next election. These people in Nathan Phillips Square will be in for a rude shock next year.

People in Toronto, don't like Rob Ford. Big deal. People in Toronto didn't like Rob Ford in the previous election, guess who won.

Look at this circus. Those anti-Ford haters at the Star seem like fanatics.

If the choice for mayor comes down to Rob Ford or a fanatic, Ford will clean up.

Don't under-estimate the strength of Ford Nation. They have the numbers to win again.

Seems to me why this smear campaign is happening. Maybe the fanatics just aren't that confident in the real issues, and go on such an interesting attack.

It's not just The Star who are creating problems for Ford. Those close to him who know him well are leaving him too. It was recently reported he's offering his staff a raise to stop them from leaving. As far as Ford's career as Mayor goes, this may be the beginning of the end. Ford Nation may love him but it is quite possible Rob Ford will not be on the ballot next year.

And it's still early days, the video may yet be found!

I do not think it matters what the media says.

Mayor Ford is the one person after all who refuses to speak to the Toronto Star. If we want his message, we have to listen to his radio show. Ford's message gets out.

All that matters to Ford and his election chances is Ford Nation.

The polls clearly indicate Ford Nation has not budged. If a video tape surfaces, then maybe, but at the moment all we have is thin air.

If the tape does not surface, then Ford Nation will only get stronger, and people will find this type of character assassination most disagreeable.

Ford is clownish like Mel Nobuddy Lastman, but if we look at the names of councilors and potential candidates, everyone has their head up their ass in some way shape or form.

I guess that makes it interesting.

I get around.
He will be reelected, I bet
Many of those who continue to support Ford believe that once this whole Mayor Crackhead distraction is over there will be no further scandals from him.
However his history predicts that there will be more lies and more offensive shameful behaviour.

What I compare being mayor of Toronto to is swimming with the sharks, and sooner or later you’re going to get bitten by the media. And no wonder, politics are made for people who can work with others and be discrete and don’t have rumours of videos of them smoking crack. And my heart bleeds for him when he gets killed in the press , but it’s his own fault at the end of the day.

If Ford is offering more money to staff, than the reason people are leaving is a money issue. Ford's staff is being recruited away, likely by news agencies.

Thought you would be a Ford supporter. Ford is about the only one willing to stand up and lead in opposing the road tolls some in the city and the province want to put on the highways around the GTA. If road tolls are put in place, many of the ladies, your customers, who do outcalls will have to pay these tolls to move around the GTA. The ladies will either have to accept this cut in their disposable income, or pass the higher fees onto the customer. Think there is little support for higher fees at this point.

Ford is on AM 1010 every Sunday from 1pm - 3pm. Excluding Sundays that fall on a long weekend. For those who would like to hear Ford and judge for themselves, without all the media filtering.

On the other hand, if the video doesn't emerge (and if Ford isn't charged with any crimes), it might give Ford some inoculation against further allegations.

Ford has denied smoking crack. That effectively throws it back to his accusers to produce some evidence.

If evidence doesn't emerge, Ford will be able to say his enemies will say anything about him.

In other mayor news, the Superior Court of Ontario is expected to hand down its decision in the Mayor Hazel McCallion conflict of interest case within the next two weeks.

Uhhhhmmmmmm yeah, probably not on point, nor in any way useful to anyone except you to satisfy your need to chime in on everything.

But what else to expect from you.
