Hi everyone...not sure if this is in the right place or not. Just wondering what everyones thoughts are on the risks of daty. I have read conflicting reports in the health section ranging from almost no risk to moderate risks. Anyone here have some insite or personal experiences with this? Thanks!

My personal experience : One of my favourite things to do, never had an STD in 10 years of seeing escorts and mpa's.

My 38 year old friend was recently diagnosed with throat cancer caused by HPV.
He told me it is more common than throat cancer caused by smoking. I had never heard of this in men. They should be giving boys the HPV shot along with girls.
I would highly encourage any parents of sons to demand that their sons get the HPV shots when the girls get them in school.
Throat cancer from HPV is from oral sex.

Can't adults get the shot?

Simple answer, yes they can, but it is not cost effective.

A little background:

1) There are over 70 HPV, the vaccine is effective for 4 of them.
2) Once you are infected it is to late, the vaccine does not work
3) Children seldom have been great thing.n infected so vaccine is a lot of bang for your buck
4) By the time a woman has had 20 to 30 sex partners the odds of her not having been already infected are extremely low so vaccine is low bang for the buck
5) I never investigated men's infection rate but I assume it is similar.

Thanks guys...just trying to clear up some confusion between the other threads on this topic... I have heard about the hpv but it was some of the other sti's that weren't clear. The consensus seems to be that it is one of the safer acts out there.

with a condom, yes lol

Ask your doctor. It is foolish to trust people's opinion if they have a vested interest.

Doctors are people too :) I would be surprised if your average GP was any more informed on the rates of infection of HPV through DATY than your average Terbite who Googles.

As far as DATY with a condom ? That's just weird, unless you are into t-girls.

Well most can comment on un-treatable gonorrhea, and syphilis and oral transmission.

A vaginal condom works relatively well. And better than nothing :)

The risks of contracting an STI from DATY is very low, unless there are other circumstances involved. If you have a cut in your mouth, then the risk factor has increased. The Herpes virus also carries a little higher risk, but that goes both ways...If you have a cold sore, you can pass it on to her. As far as HPV, the research shows that a good percentage of the population carry the HPV virus, some simply remain carriers and will never experience symptoms.

It is much easier for someone to contract an STI from BBBJ than DATY and even that risk is relatively low. I have asked many health care providers about the risks involved with oral sex, both BBBJ and DATY. (I worked at a sexual heath clinic for a few years) They have ALL told me the same thing: They have not seen one single confirmed case of anyone contracting an STI from DATY.

Hope this helps

I guess the North American ones are less infectious.

Mr Loki has been an alarmist on this topic before, so I would discount his responses as usual. It is fairly obvious that it is not "no risk" but it remains very "low risk". Just have half a brain and don't do it if you have a cut in your mouth or just after a dental hygenist teeth cleaning where she has poked your gums.

As for personal experience? Close to 13 years of sp Daty'ing without an STD.

Biggest risk is enjoying it too much and having the hour fly by and realize you didn't get your turn!

Oh right it is just me being paranoid.

Not like the CDC says chlamydia can infect from mouth to vagina. Oh wait they do.
http://www.cdc.gov/std/chlamydia/STDFact-chlamydia-detailed.htm

Well it’s not like gonorrhea can infect and live in your throat. Oh wait “The bacterium can also grow in the mouth, throat, eyes, and anus.”
http://www.cdc.gov/std/gonorrhea/STDFact-Gonorrhea.htm

Well everyone knows you cannot get syphilis from mouth to vagina contact. Oh wait “Syphilis is transmitted from person to person by direct contact with syphilis sores. Sores occur mainly on the external genitals, vagina, anus, or in the rectum. Sores also can occur on the lips and in the mouth. Syphilis can be transmitted during vaginal, anal, or oral sexual contact.”
http://www.cdc.gov/std/syphilis/STDFact-Syphilis.htm
Well HBV is not in saliva at least. Oh…. “How is HBV transmitted?
HBV is transmitted through activities that involve percutaneous (i.e., puncture through the skin) or mucosal contact with infectious blood or body fluids (e.g., semen, saliva), including: Sex”

http://www.cdc.gov/hepatitis/HBV/HBVfaq.htm

Don’t you just hate the CDC? Just because they are THE top rated medical protocol providers in North America, why believe them? We have our own self appointed experts.

Did anyone mention that incubation periods can exceed a decade?

Oh but IM469 is an expert. And SPJ likes it.

I can't really picture a female condom being used for covered ORAL sex. They are also called receptive condoms. (I've never heard it called a vaginal condom.)

If you want to do covered oral sex on a vagina or anus, you want to use a dental dam: http://www.sexualityandu.ca/stis-stds/how_do_i_protect_myself_from_stis_stds/dental_dam

It's a piece of latex you can put over the vagina or anus. Don't pull on it and stretch it out - just lay it on top, a little lube on it helps too.
If you don't have one you can make one from a condom or latex glove. Dental dams and home made dental dams are also great for rimming. They aren't all purple, they can be other colours too, that's just what I found on google image search!

DON'T STRETCH IT OUT LIKE THIS or you won't be able to feel anything. Just drape it onto the bits!

Make your own, just carefully cut the tip off a condom and then slit up the side and roll it open into a square.

:)
