Yeah, I know we all saw those Canadian Heritage commercials, but something cool that I didn't know was:

"....that they crafted "an immigrant figure whose desire was to fit into American culture as an American", something which Pevey feels taps into an important aspect of American identity".

When Superman first appeared, Superman's alter ego Clark Kent worked for the Daily Star newspaper, named by Shuster after the Toronto Daily Star, his old employer in Toronto. Shuster said he modeled the cityscape of Superman's home city, Metropolis, on that of his old hometown. When the comic strip received international distribution, the company permanently changed the name to the Daily Planet."

Joe Shuster, who created the most iconic superhero of all time, modelled Metropolis where Clark kent worked, from TORONTO! and The Daily Planet was modelled after the Toronto Star:)

Just something cool to remember when Man of Steel comes out this Summer.

Yeah Superman has Canadian roots,I never understand what they say in the comics,,,with truth and justice and the American way...Superman is an alien for f'sake.
Well on another note,Siegel and Shuster estate lost their battle for the Superman rights with Warner Bros. Now Warner Bros can make a gazillion dollars of merchandise from this new Man of Steel film and nothing for the original creators. Dunno what now with royalty payments on the comic book merchandise.

this pisses me off. superman will and always will be property of the original creators. fuck what anyone else says. warner bros are thieves and crooks in my opinion. trying to make money off someone else's work. and on that note, superman is a lame superhero. has practically no weaknesses whatsoever. so take that warner bros. take your lame superhero and shove it up your ass.

You are very short on facts to make that judgment
One would need to know the entire history , including any agreements and payments exchanged long before the court battle
Maybe Warner bros did screw these guys over or maybe they just negotiated a really good deal before the value became apparent to all.
The point is you do not really know do you?

I recall hearing a story about Tim Horton's widow complaining how Ron Joyce had cheated her out of the company
It turns out she was paid $1 MM before Tim's really started to grow. Joyce begged her to retain some shares, but she wanted the cash
While Tim Horton supplied the name, it was Joyce that built the company into the Billion dollar enterprise
Horton's widow blew through the million (booze) and then realized she had sold the golden goose for pennies

You should relax a little man. The estate sold the rights to dc in 2001 for millions and years later decided to try and back out of the deal. The court just said the multi million deal the estate signed in 2001 was valid.
