Both Leno and Letterman are overdue to retire.

I pvr Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert. Ocassionally, I will pvr one of the network late night shows if I notice there is an interesting guest, but I wouldn't watch any of them live. Most of the time they are very boring.

With that kind of money, I would have retired long ago. If Jay Leno goes, then it is Letterman or Craig Ferguson or nothing for me.

What is wrong with Fallon? He is upbeat, funny and his musical parodies are superb...not to mention his band the Roots are awesome.

This won't happen until the end of 2014. Wonder why? Why say/leak something now? Talk about a flag up the pole.

Why do people still watch these shows? they are nothing but advertising for upcoming movies, so and so actor comes on and it's "oohh my new movie.... comes out this Friday please go see it" the best is when there is a rerun and you already know the movie was a disaster, yet you still see the actor going on about how awesome it is.

Less and less people are watching these shows. Having said that, people are celebrity obsessed and there will always be a market for this type of show.

This move to replace, not one of my favourite late night host is dumb, and NBC is not being truthful why, as Leno leads in the 18-40 demographic they say Fallon will help with.

That's one reason why Craig Ferguson's show is good ... the people will come on and usually end up chatting about all kinds of other stuff, then maybe give a quick plug at the end of the segment for whatever they are going to be appearing in.

I think of late night shows as Blockbuster. The internet and PVRing has made it so 12:30 late night is not the only option out there.I suspect in 20 years the format will go away completely

Jimmy Kimmell is smooth, he will eventually be the top dog. Craig Ferguson's high energy humour wouldn't work on an earlier time slot, he wouldn't be funny if he toned it down.

Who can it be!

Leno sucks and should have been kicked off TV years ago. Letterman's a bit better but still wildly overrated. I don't particularly enjoy late-night shows, but Kimmel and Fallon are much better than Leno and Letterman. And it's not even close. I haven't actually seen Ferguson's show, though I've heard good things about it

Also, while he's pretty good and much better than Leno, Conan's also wildly overrated in my opinion. That whole 'Team Coco' movement was over-hyped. Plus his TBS show sucks

you may not like him , but lots of people watch him and isn't that what ratings are all about along with basically making networks happy? I don't watch him, but 1000's do.

And let's not forget the return of Arsenio Hall this fall. He signed a deal with someone shortly after winning Celebrity Apprentice last year.

Maybe too old for most of you here but there was nothing like the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson! Anyone else here remember those good old days?

Yes, Johnny was so much better than Leno. I preferred Dick Cavett though. I thought he had a more cerebral sense of humour. But I am in the minority. Carson was much more popular and I believe he was on the air much longer.
