There is a lot better choices than just plain Chrome IMO, such as RockMelt, CoolNovo, Maxathon, SlimBoat, Torch, Comodo Dragon, SRWare Iron, Canary, etc.

And don't forget SeaMonkey, which is a Mozilla browser and looks a lot like the old Netscape browser that was the most popular one back in the 90s, before AOL took it over and farked it up.....:eyebrows:

Seamonkey is great if you want a whole suit, i.e. browser, mail, HTML editor and IRC client all in one.

I personally recommend Waterfox (64bit) or Palemoon (64 or 32bit and optimized for Windows) if you like Firefox.

Or just run Nightly if you like to live a little dangerously. :D

I miss K-Meleon, I wish it would come back. Still runs nice on old comps though.

Wow, didn't realize that there are so many browsers out there. Anyway, so far Chrome seems "TERB friendly" enough so I'll stick with it for now.

Those browsers I mentioned are just ones based on Chrome. You could say they are versions of Chrome with something extra. It all depends on how you use the net. Personally I like RockMelt the best because I use facebook and twitter often to share articles. If you are paranoid about security and privacy than you might want to use Comodo Dragon or SRWare Iron. If you want to streamline your browsing and torrent experience than Torch would be a good choice. If you want Chrome that looks kind of like IE than Maxathon, If you want a Chrome on steroids try SlimBoat or CoolNovo. If you want to be on the bleeding edge, than Canary might be your cup of tea.

(Sort of like Linux with its many versions.) My problem is that every time I try a new browser I have to undergo a learning curve.
LOL! There are still many other browsers out that haven't been mentioned yet.
I've always had 3 or 4 browsers on all my PCs just to compare and see what others are like. You use your fav while playing around with a new one. The learning curve isn't really that bad.....;)

In the end, whatever works best for you.

Personally I like to be a bit different than everyone else, and also I like to optimize my experience as much as I can. The biggest beef I have with Chrome and Chromium based browsers is the lack of 64bit for Windows systems. Firefox has also stopped 64bit for Windows since Nightly 21a (if I remember correctly) and I've found myself most comfy using Waterfox.

I was reviewing the stats for visitors to my website and over 43% use Chrome, 26 % Safari, MS Internet Explorer around 16 % and around 12 % from Firefox....amazingly Netscape also appeared on the list (didn't even know it still existed).

A bit surprised that Firefox is so low although I knew that it was slipping. Curious what the number for Firefox users were 2-3 years ago (must be a lot higher).

i been thinking about switching to rockmelt.
Only downside is that they have not updated in some time. They seem to have switched most of their focus on the iOS app. Still a really good browser, and there is nothing else out there that gives the same functionality. Facebook Toolbar and messenger for Firefox comes nowhere close to cutting the mustard.

One thing that has me hooked on Waterfox right now is an excellent app called Multifox which allows multiple login instances on different tabs.. so for example I could be logged into two or more facebook, gmail, yahoo, etc. accounts at the same time. And installing a few other apps like Omnibar and The Fastest Search makes the feel a lot like Chrome. If I could get something like Multifox for RockMelt I would likely switch back even though it's only in 32bit.

Those stats are not always (and probably most often not) entirely accurate; as it goes roughly by the tags the browser provides, which many will tell the website they are Chrome or Firefox or IE so that the website will "play nice" with it. Much like having your mobile browser spoof a PC browser in order to display in original format.

Didn't know that, thanks. Wonder which are the 3 most popular browsers used by TERBies (maybe a good poll question).

Why do you like to be different? Just to be different? I'm sorry but that is a stupid reason. As is the lack of 64 bit chrome. It doesn't matter whether your browser is a 32 or 64 bit app. How much memory do you need your browser to use? There is so much misinformation concerning 64 bit apps its hilarious. 64 doesn't mean better and faster...
