Well here we are 1-1 so far.
Still need a #1 center ... same old same old

Home opener loss was a disappointment, but they were not beat by a better team, just a top goaltender.
I wish Miller would have demanded a trade last season and been traded to the West ... maybe Vancouver .... they may be looking for a #1 goalie. :D
As for the game, Leafs in my eyes did not play that bad. They waited far too long to really turn it on.

I assume we will see Reimer tonight in Pittsburgh.
I would wait a couple more games before I let Gardiner play, no need to roll dice on the kid.

Watching the game tonight, the firing of Brian Bruke seems even more bizarre.

The best defense-man tonight for the Leafs was Phenuef, against Corsby all game. Guess who got him.

The most dangerous Leaf forward, Kessel all three games, although he has not scored yet.

The goal scorers for the Leafs tonight, three of them all acquired by you know who.

Even Komersiek does not look out of place.

This is still Brian Burke's team. For whatever reasons they did not make the playoffs last year, the most glaring ones seem to be, lack of team defense, shoddy goal-tending.

This year under Carlyse, team defense is better, and goal-tending probably would improve to average.

Leafs are still a nice team to watch, they still generate offense off the rush. Very weak on the fore-checking if the Graborski, Kulemin line is not on.

With Lupal out, put that new guy Karmolov on the wing with Kessel, or bring up Frattin.

Where's Colbourne by the way?

Lupal got hit by a puck. It is a fractured forearm.

The Islanders visit the ACC tonight. Be nice to see the Leafs put a little streak together.

Should the Leafs consider Jason Arnott for about $800,000 for this season ?

I'd like to see Toronto deal with Dallas to aquire Jamie Benn. Lose a LW in Lupul and replace him with a very young, and talented Benn who plays the same.
I would love to see that happen ... however I will not hold my breath.

After 4 games, Leafs strengths and weaknesses laid bare, it is still Brian Burke's team.

Fast skating team, too many defensive lapses, shoddy goal tending.

Luongo for Kadri.

Do you think it is worth it? I don't think it is worth it.

Got to hope Riemer can play a little better.

Dion Phanerf's major weakness is slow footspeed. He does not have NHL footspeed. Years ago I played pick up hockey and Larry Carriere showed up for one game. Larry was blazing fast to us but couldn't stick in the NHL because of slow footspeed.

I want the Leafs to get a veteran goalie(not named Luongo).
I am thinking Mike Smith or Kiprusoff.
Nonis ... Just do not over pay.

Randy Carlyle needs to own that loss last night.
It was obvious that in the latter 2nd and into the 3rd the Leafs were ultra defensive, trapping, and trying to hold that 2 goal lead instead of trying to stomp the Rangers in the throat and win by 5-6 goals which they could have if they just kept their 1st period game plan going.
Terrible coaching decision to shell up like that against a team with Callahan, Gaborik, Nash, Richards, etc.
Awful coaching.

He owns it ?
Did he use cash or did he charge it ?

I guess it did not occur to you that NY may have started playing better.
You also could be correct, but I doubt it.

Oh no, the Sabres in Buffalo are next up on Tuesday, another NY team !

We need to 'hear' from Kessel sooner rather then later.

The NHL needs to begin allowing cash deals.

The Leafs are already done for the season. Thankfully for Leafs fans, it's a short season so the pain and embarrassment won't last as long as normal. They simply do not have the talent to compete consistently. Golf season is just around the corner.

Read in the papers to-day that the Leafs could have had Rask, Couture, Seguin and Hamilton on their team this year.
