According to the 2006 Census data, Koreans make up 1.4% of Toronto's population and Japanese 0.5%. There's almost 3 times more Koreans than Japanese living in Toronto.

The majority of the Japanese Canadian population are descended from those who first migrated to BC (primarily Vancouver Island and the Fraser Valley) during the late 19th and the early part of the 20th century as cheap labour to build the last sections of the railroads (after the Chinese had already settled in BC), and eventually working as fisherman and small farmers, until they were interned during the Second World War. Therefore, most Japanese Canadians have roots in this country that dates back 3 or 4 generations and are practically assimilated into the dominant Anglo-Canadian culture, and many are of mixed descent. There has been a small but steady number of immigrants from Japan to Canada since the 1960's, but in general they tend to be highly educated professionals who do not form large ethnic enclaves.

You are correct according to a Korean Pimp who I played golf with about 2 months ago. He told me most Koreans we have here had already worked in japan for a few yrs and they are all over the age of 28 to 32 range. I believe so cuz I had spoken to a few close Korean SPs and they all have been to Japan, Australia and United states before coming over here. Two of my favs were 31 and 34 yrs old. They were not very fond of working in the states bcuz of the strict prostitution law there even tho' the money was a bit better. Fuji is correct, Japanese is a wealthy nation, and a nation's wealth is inversely proportional to the likelihood of their women immigrating to places like Canada to work in the sex trade. Korea is growing rapidly but is no where close to its former colony master, Japan in wealth and sophistication. For the same reason that there are more Korean convenience store owners in the GTA than Japenese ones, there are more Korean SPs than Japanese SPs. Japan is a much more wealthy country than Korea, although Korean is catching up. The wealth of the country is inversely proportional to the propensity of a country's women to immigrate to work as SPs. Also Koreans share more of a desire or ability to immigrate and become establish small business than do Japanese who tend to like to at this time in history, except for vacations, remain in Japan and work for large companies. Korea does not have a miltary history of invading and annexing their neighbours as does Japan and Germany. The pscyhe of the Japanese is still very much damaged by its' relatively recent humilating defeat in the last century, however for Japan to have carried out much of the same actions or atrocities that Germany did, they would have had to have believed in their supreme superiorty over all other races and nations and many Japanese continue to still hold these beliefs. Now to be an SP, requires accepting at times much humilation and degradation and if the SP feels that other nations and races are beneath them, then they may only be able to have sex with their own nationality, unless they are almost starving, which the Japanese are not. IMHO, many Japanese women that I have met, have an aura of superiority and disdain for non-Japanese. Yes they will have sex with non-Japanese but would be unlikely to become prostitutes for non-Japanese for the the aforementioned reasons. Korean women do not share this problem to the same degree. I have mentioned before that the Yakuza controls the SP trade in Japan and there are no Yakuza in the GTA.

Visit yes, but not stay and work. My point was that contrary to what someone wrote earlier in the thread there's plenty of Japanese women who are willing and come work in other western countries and become a working girl. I have spoken to a few of them and none of them wanted to return to Japan either. It's easy for them to get a short term work visa in Australia, but like you said, not so for Canada.

Start with any food court in any downtown location. College Park, Bloor and Yonge, Atrium. Just say "Kon I Chii Wa" and invite her to sit with you. If nothing else happens in terms of communication (exchange of phone info, e-mail) at least you'll have a lovely companion.

In my experience, it usually leads to a date. Keep in mind clarity of communication (not language) and you should be on your way.
