Buying high end watches

I was just at Yorkdale finishing up my Christmas shopping and I stopped by the new Rolex store. I saw a $33,000 watch on display, didn't look that special, and it could have easily passed as a $150 watch. The question is, who'd buy a $33,000 watch? NBA players? Rappers? Donald Trump? You'd have to be either filthy rich, or extremely stupid, since you can get a decent car for that price. I'm happy with my $300 battery free Citizen watch, it looks nice and gets the job done.

Years ago before people started buying me watches for christmas presents I would typically buy a $5.00 digital watch. It lasted at least a year before the battery died and it too did the job just fine. Now i use a cell phone for the time.

I don't think i could ever see myself spending $300 on a watch.

$5.00 digital watch is too shabby for a man of class, character
and style like me. My favourite watch to wear is one of those
007 Swatch watches.

Why does a woman want a $33,000 diamond bracelet?

In practical terms, a Rolex or Breitling maintains it's value. You are carrying around a bank account on your wrist. If you need to bribe a customs official in eastern Europe, you are all set up. If you are robbed, the watch is fully insured. You have nothing to lose, you have everything you need if you are in an emergency. In the current electronic age, this is less imortant, you have access to all of your funds through your smartphone. 20 years ago that wasn't the case. That said, having $33,000 on your wrist still has a certain cachet.

Did you see any Presidents in platinum and diamond markers? LOL.

Rolex wouldn't even be considered high end by collectors. They're just nice watches. I know a few guys with watches in that range. They're lawyers, real estate agents, doctors. Just regular joes who like watches.

High end watches are going out of vogue. A quality watch such as a Seiko is very acceptable these days.

Maybe in the US but overall watch sales are up globally.

I guess you've never heard or seen a Grand Seiko?

The same reason many people like to be seen in expensive cars, clothes etc. They want to project an image. These types of people are not secure in their own skin and look for approval/appreciation in the eyes of others. btw I said "many people" not all. Some people just enjoy the finer things in life. Myself....my ego isnt big enough for a rolex....

I bought a rolex years ago, I did not buy the $33,000 one, but I paid $7,000 for it, I like it, but at the end of the day its only a watch.

Ladies and gentleman, if you're a high end watch enthusiast, prepare to be blown away by the most expensive watch in the world, the "Million Dollar Black Caviar Bang" by Hublot.

"Hublot made the million dollar big bang watch out of white gold and rare baguette cut black diamonds. almost 550 diamonds are all over the watch, with a total of 34.5 carats. Hublot took its time making the watch. Over 2000 hours went into it. The movement is a manually wound tourbillon. Functions include the time (tourbillon acts as the seconds indicator), and a power reserve indicator."

when you own a 33,000 dollar watch ...you know it...thats the difference between a 10 dollar watch and a 33,000 dollar one...and believe me thats all that matters.
