Is Reyes Coming To Toronto?

The Toronto Blue Jays may have gotten the pitching help they've been looking for.
According to reports, the Jays have acquired starting pitchers Mark Buehrle and Josh Johnson, as well as shortstop Jose Reyes and catcher John Buck, from the Miami Marlins.
The 28-year-old Johnson went 8-14 in 31 starts with the Marlins in 2012. He has twice been selected to represent the National League in the All-Star Game (2009 and 2010).
Buehrle, 33, went 13-13 last season. He has been selected to the All-Star game four times (2002, 2005, 2006, 2009) and has won a Gold Glove Award in each of the last four seasons.
A three-time All-Star, Reyes, 29, is one year removed from winning the National League batting title with the New York Mets. He hit .287 last season with 11 home runs and 57 runs batted-in.
In exchange, the Marlins receive pitcher Henderson Alvarez and shortstops Yunel Escobar and Adeiny Hechavarria.
Left-handed pitching prospect Justin Nicolino will also be sent to the Marlins in the deal. The Blue Jays are also believed to have sent an outfield prospect to the Marlins.
Nicolino was ranked fifth among the Blue Jays prospects by Baseball America earlier this week, while Hechavarria was ranked eighth.
The 22-year-old Alvarez started more games than any Jays pitcher last season (31) other than Ricky Romero. He posted a 9-14 record with a 4.85 earned-run average and a 1.44 WHIP.
Hechavarria, 23, performed admirably down the stretch, appearing in 41 games after an August call-up. He is known for possessing an outstanding glove, but also hit a respectable .254 with two home runs and 15 runs batted-in.
FOX reporters Jon Paul Morosi and Ken Rosenthal first reported the trade.
Morosi also reported that the trade includes outfielder/infielder Emilio Bonifacio.

Miami wanted Escobar and Hech at least in part because they're Cuban, and they'd sell well in their market.
Does acquiring Buck mean that Arencibia or D'arnaud will be traded?
Reyes will lead off. Bautista and Edwin will be #3 and 4, respectively. Do they leave Rasmus in the #2 spot, or put Lawrie there?
Miami wanted Escobar and Hech at least in part because they're Cuban, and they'd sell well in their market.

I would put Rasmus, you gotta have a left handed bat in there between the righties. Unless, if we are facing a left handed starter.
According to reports, Miami is paying $4,000,000 of the players salaries headed to Toronto.
Mathis is gone so that leaves JP & Buck with the big club. D'arnaud was injured most of last year so he'll probably be better off with another year in the minors.
It is a lot of money to take in but the Jays need this if they are serious about making some noise in the AL East. Not sure if they are done yet but this also shows potential free agents that they are now serious in trying to put a winning product on the field and both have and are willing to put in the resources to win.
Wow ... that's a very exciting deal for Blue Jay fans! Let's hope it goes through and pays off for years to come.
I don't like this trade.
Okay, granted that the players sent away weren't doing much in Toronto this year, the players coming back:
Josh Johnson is not the same pitcher like before. He was as good as Roy Halladay before he was injuried, velocity has declined.
Burele he is a veteren major leaguer, but he does run hot and cold. Last year was a good season. This year? Alevrez Hernderson could have a good season.
JJ Reyes, still has the speed, but injured often. Not really an impact player anymore like when he was with the Mets.
The Jays are still an average team with no depth.
They sent away young players who still had potential, for players way past their prime.

There will always be young players with potential. They are a dime a dozen. Every year there will be a draft of 18-20 year olds with potential.
Much better to obtain players of this ilk via trade than free agency.

We've all seen how a player finds new blood (see Clemens in '97) once on a new team with different coaching and new team mates. Chemistry can work wonders if at least for one season.
Colby looks good in the 2 spot and if Brett can discipline himself, protection spot looks good behind Encarnacion.
