Most of the people on here are NOT successful. You should require everyone who answers this question to also state their net worth, otherwise you'll end up getting advice from a bunch of middle class people...
In today's economy, you are winning if you remain in middle class.

Lots of young people can't get jobs, and they have much more education than me. Unless you're lucky enough to have a dad/uncle to steer your career boat, get you a job, etc.

My father was a WW II veteran of North Africa, how he managed to survive is still a mystery to me. I have nothing but the utmost respect for those that choose to serve their country.

Pay off your mortgage as fast as you can. Once paid you'll be able to generate a tidy slush fund, but be diligent in your research or else you'll lose your underwear.

I don't really care what they think - they can go try what we do and see if it's too much money.

Or better yet, write to their MP and demand that soldiers pay be cut.
Something tells me they'll be really silent on this point now, especially in November. They were pretty mouthy about it, but got shot down in short order.

I always said that public employees get paid too much and that their salaries should be cut. However, I always maintained that soldiers are not paid enough. They are the only ones that risk their lives on a daily basis when they get deployed and if they get hurt they are fucked and forgotten by the government.

Being a Canadian soldier is probably not a bad deal, though. They never fight..

Thats because majority of todays young people are entitled douche bags who are afraid of real work and believe that everything should be handed to them.

Half the people i knew in highschool can't get a job, its the recession, no one is hiring, blah blah blah
The other half have worked hard since then, majority of them now have people working for them and are laughing

Are you aware that for a while Canadian soldiers were suffering a higher percentage wounded and death rate per soldier than the Americans in Afghanistan? 157 died, and usually the number of wounded is two to three times that number.

Just because the Canadian government doesn't glorify war like the Yanks doesn't mean that Canadians aren't in the fight. In fact, sometimes it's decades before the Canadian Government publicly acknowledges the actions of the Armed Forces (i.e. the Medak pocket).

Your statistical agility is impressive, but I don't care. I don't glorify war and have no interest in fighting myself. I wasn't putting Canadian soldiers down, just pointing out that it's probably a better deal than being an American soldier....

Not running for elected office, so I don't give a shit.... Having said that, how is saying that Canadian soldiers get a good deal a bad thing... ?

How did this thread turn into an army discussion? I was hoping some wealthy members like Loki, fuji would offer advice.

I sit on my ass watching porn all day and wait for money to appear in my bank account.
I am hoping to get this job one day but there is too much competition.

I was at Medak. When I got back to Canada, I was told that this did not even make it to the National news.
