Reminds me of part of one of Terry Pratchett's stories: a poor person could afford to buy a pair of boots for $10 each year that would start leaking after 6 or 7 months while a rich man could buy a pair of boots that would last for 10 years. So in that same 10 years the poor person would spend twice as much money and still have wet feet.

If you can't you can't, but that doesn't cost or effectiveness.
Blackrock babbling and typing before his brain is fully engaged....of course, most here would concur that his brain is never fully engaged. Unless he is cutting and pasting, his thoughts and sentences rarely make sense...but then, every community needs a village idiot....keep up the good work Bubba.... we all love you anyways

It clear you didn't read the follow up post, did you? I heard you were a little too quick on the trigger. Back in your crate, mutley.

Standard Auto wreckers. Markham rd and Steels Scarborough. Google them. The have a section devoted to used tires. They will only sell tires with 80 percent or better tread.
I got rims and tires installed for 500 buck. The tires are Michelin. Like new. Rims were steel. Painted them and they are also like new.

It's too bad you missed the Good Year Tent sale event by about 2 weeks in Scarborough. They usually have it twice a year. I was able to get Goodyear Ultra Grip Ice WRT winter tires (225/60/16) for $146. Canadian tire has these on for $192 right now, so that was a pretty good deal. They also had Dunlop Graspics (not sure of the price) and regular Goodyear Ultra Grip Winter for $108 which I also thought was a great deal.

You can also check redflagdeals.com and kijiji.com for companies doing group sales for members, meaning they offer cheaper prices if X amount of members buy tires. Also you may want to check www.1010tires.com as they are canadian, no duties to pay. They have a wide selection. They had the ultra grip ice wrt tires there for 164 and rebates availabe so it probably comes out to the same price that I paid. Good luck.

That would be "affect", not "effect". Obvious typos in a forum are trivial - misuse of words due to ignorance, not so much.

can anyone recommend good place to buy winter tires? Best cheap deal?
Costco. I buy them there all the time.Tons of stock so getting your size shouldn't be a problem. Cheaper than a mechanic and easy to deal with if you have warranty issues. IMO.
