No longer indulge, but black coffee and brandy was pretty nice :)
Yes, Spanish coffee, don't forget whipped cream and Kaluha. There are many different types of "coffee" that is very good! I like scotch in there too. Time to open the cabinet and try different recipes. :D

You wouldn't think, but Bulk Barn french roast is really good. Keep the beans in your freezer unless you're Blackrock in which case your freezer is probably already full.

Turkish coffee that you cook and pour the grounds with the coffee into the cup, have to be careful not to get a mouthful of coffee grounds though.

The freezer is not the best way to store coffee, but if you must, it's better than the fridge. As far a storing large amounts he's wrong again by as yoiu should only buy it for perhaps a week , but other factors might modify that. Presently I'm consuming two pounds in a month.

His error on this makes you wonder about his opinion of Bulk Barns coffee. Yet my BB sells Kicking Horse organic, which I purchase when on sale.

I do, but like it better at $15, even $12 sometimes (but check the date) than $18 or $19.
A local store has it down to $11.99, I will buy a bag and try it. If I don't like it, I will ship it to your place. Lol. I like strong, dark coffee. Is KH dark?

I don't think it said organic. Guess they must have different types of KH?

They have a 454 and Grizzly Claw are dark. For organic fair trade the price can 't be beat when on sale.

Invest in a good espresso machine. Does not have to be one of the expensive fully auto models, but must have a good hot element and a strong pump.

The success of Tim Horton's is proof positive that all you need is a cheap lame coffee bean with a slick marketing machine to make a kazilion dollars selling coffee.

my faves:

espresso with sambuca: a great digestif after a meal (sometimes called carretto).

balzac's has the best coffee in the city (in my humble opinion :): http://www.balzacs.com/

also, buying a grinder and grinding your own beans is so worth it!

I order from greenwell farms in Kona about 3-4 times a year. I like it quite a bit.

In between it is usually an Ethopian or Costa Rica bean.

Anyone tried roasting their own beans? Tried it once over a camp fire for S&Gs, but am seriously looking into it as the cost of green beans is half roasted bean and the freshness of the beans increase. What roaster have you used or are you using?
