the analogy alludes to the weakness of Carter in the way that he was judged over the 444 Iran hostages.
Exaggerate much?

52 hostages.

Did Obama ask why Romney drove thousands of miles with his dog strapped to the roof of his station wagon?

Seems like the perfect opportunity to me.

Nice try Petzel!

'held his own'. .???

Romney kicked ass.
It depends on who you believe is being honest and telling the truth. I don't believe Romney. He's rich from a rich family and has no concept of the struggles of the average worker. Obama was raised by his grandmother who had to struggle. I think Obama understands people better. But yes Obama didn't bring his A game and Romney won this round.
I believe the problem is that ALL politicians lie....to different degress. It doesn't matter whether it's here or in the USA. It depends on to what degree you feel you can believe your politicians and who is the lesser of the 2 evils. I concede that all politicians try to cast themselves in the best light when they're running for election.

Romney kicked Obama's ass. If Romney continues with this momentum over the next 2 debates he might just land himself in the White House. Just a few days ago looking at the polls I thought this race was over, with Obama for sure getting re-elected, but now I'm not so sure, Romney embarrassed Obama a couple of times tonight.

Yea and that's what is frightening. Especially after all the progress society has made over the last 20 years, Romney would take us all back to the days of illegal abortions!

One thing I feel compelled to say. If McGuinty, Harper and Ford tried to pull the shit down there, that they have done here, they would've been impeached amd ousted by now! We are far too complacent in Canada and accept too much BS from our governments.

Left vs right..

The people..like Petzel..often base their opinion on the abortion issue.

The left blames the right for voting republican because of trepurposing life view.

But there is just as many on the left who vote on one issue.... That being to keep abortion.

In the end....BOTH GROUPS ARE TOO ONE DIMENSIONAL.

and the people who take in all the other issues....education, military, economy etc, ..actually pick the next President.

So if you HATE Romney because he is pro life...and vote him down on that ONE issue....you are way too closed minded to listen to the important issues and decide on the bulk of other substantive plans, ideas and vision.

Unfortunately I agree that Romney won the debate. I didn't watch all of it, but he seemed much more in control than Obama was, and he seemed to make simple points that will resonate with his voters. It's a shame because he and his party are most definitely not the cure for what ails America, they will only make the country worse, IMHO, but Obama did not perform well. To be fair, it was a little like the Palin/Biden Vice-Presidential debate in 2008; expectations were so low for Romney, that all he had to do was not shit the bed and he would be perceived as the winner, but still, I was expecting a whole lot more from Obama. He didn't completely fuck up, so as long as he improves in the next couple debates, he should be fine, but I'm officially a little worried. Paul Ryan would scare the shit out of me if I was an average American, but he is articulate and telegenic. I have no doubt that he should kick Biden's ass in the VP debate. That combined with Romney's financial push can make things quite interesting for Obama.
I am glad I live in Canada.

Romney kicked Obama's ass.
Fox News must be happy. Mitt has continually said extremely stupid things, particularly when 'winging it'. The rehearsals definitely paid off as I thought he was very cool and collected. I found it ironic that he was talking about cooperation with the democrats unlike Obama with the republicans. The reality was that the republicans refused to cooperate with one candidly admitting that if they paralyze congress - they can get rid of Obama in two years.

Mitt is going to cut taxes, increase student programs, guaranteeing to fund medicare for the seniors and increase spending to the military while reducing the deficit - I was hoping to see just how those numbers add up. Obama alluded to the bad math but did not push it instead talking about specific problems which if not made up were very boring to listen to.

Looks like its going to be a horse race !

I think Mur you are being a little disingenuous about the performance of Romney. I will give you the benefit of the doubt as you shut off the debate...and therefore are making an opinion on prior knowledge.

It was not about simple topics.....in fact this debate discussed the most policy and facts in the history of debates. And it was unanimous that Romney had a much better go at these topics. Furthermore, the consensus is that Romeny was much more relaxed, more happy in appearance, and on top of his game. Obama came off as angry and unsettled..missing many opportunities to counter Romney.

And while Romney embellished one point, it was also pointed out that Obama discussed some fiction as well. The difference being, the Obama did not counter Romneys fiction.

The Dems are livid with Obama.
