i am looking at buying an SUV but need to carry a couple Grit Hockey bags in the back. I looked at one and it almost seemed to small to carry two. I was wondering what SUV's have the biggest trunk area, and I cannot pull down the back seats as the boys are still too young 9& 8 to sit in the front.

Thanks

I used consumer reports earlier and got size etc , but for info on trunk space they gave info in cubic feet etc. I was looking for someone who actually has to carry hockey bags etc . I looked at a Kia and the back area was 32 cubic ft , but that was too small

Have a look at the Mazda 5. Reasonably priced, good on gas and has a nice amount of cargo space while still seating 4. Put the rear seats up and you can carry 6 people. I really like the sliding doors on both sides. Best thing is it won't feel like you're driving an SUV and will be easier to park. I find a lot of SUV's don't make good use of space. I think it looks better than most SUV's too. No, I don't work for Mazda. lol

Gotta say.....most SUV's are too narrow..and small to carry hockey bags. Go with a van....take the back seat out.

Far more room!

I'd say if you want a really big space at the back, go for Honda Pilot or Ford Explorer. Pilot would be more fuel efficient but explorers are not bad, plus they look sexier. If you want to go on the smaller SUVs, I would go for a rav4 or grand vitara. decent space at the back but i'd say the vitara has better fuel consumption. they have the 2.7 v6 where as the rav4 i think only has 3.6 v6. mazda 5 is ok but make sure to rust proof it every year...yes every year.

That is the type of bags the boys have . The grits are 36 inch high and one barely fits in the trunk of my mid size car.

The mazda5 looks ok but it's only a 4 cylinder and I need at least a 6. The initial costs of these SUV's are horrible especially the Honda and toyotas.

Get a 4 door pick up with a cover and locking tailgate. Easy to load and unload, extra room for luggage in the event of travel, and most important keeps hockey equipment cold so it won't smell near as bad!

My buddy has a Mazda cx9. Nice vehicle, looks good and you could fit 5 hockey bags in the back and still seat 5 comfortably.
