Condolences to his family and friends.
Murdered while being robbed. Unfortunately, murder is very common in South Africa.

Slow news day?Corrie Sanders was famous enough to make the CP 24 NEWS.
It was posted in the sports lounge and is a sports worthy piece of news. Sanders held a world heavyweight title for the briefest of periods. But he beat one of the Klitchko brothers and that is a big deal. I think he is the last guy to beat one of those monsters, and many men have tried since Sanders. I have met about 15 men that have held world boxing titles, including heavyweights like the late Jack Demsey, Muhammed Ali (when he was Cassius Clay) and the Swede Ingemar Johansson, who held the title for one fight only. Just like Sanders. Corrie Sanders is miles away from the class of great champions, but anyone that wins a world boxing title is noteworthy in the world of sports and the manner of his passing accentuates this.Corrie who?
If it hadn't had anything to do with South Africa and your opinion of this so called backwater country, it wouldn't have been posted on TERB
Saunders was not a world leader or a mover and a shaker in any aspect of life. He was a boxer that got a shot at the limelight, second choice by the way, and upset a champion who in short order got his crown back later.
Nice try.
As a boxing fan and more you would appreciate it, but had RS not commented on the South African murder rate connection and just said he was murdered, his well known condescending stance on South African society would have slid by.It was posted in the sports lounge and is a sports worthy piece of news. Rockslinger, thanks for the post. I missed this on the news.
Fair enough blackrock. Good to see another boxing fan. In Canada the sport is almost a zero. But in the UK it is a huge sport. I boxed in the UK from the age of 6 until 20 and won an ABA title (under 18). Met a lot of great boxing champs and received much of my coaching from the 1956 Olympic gold medalist Dick Mctaggart and the late Sir Freddy Mills. They took a shine to me when I was about 11 and they were complete opposites in personality and boxing philosophies. Dick, the peerless defend and counter puncher, whereas Freddy was a warrior who constantly moved forward with malice. Freddy was world champ (light heavy) for two years, just a little before Rocky Marciano won the heavyweight title. As a boxing fan and more you would appreciate it, but had RS not commented on the South African murder rate connection and just said he was murdered, his well known condescending stance on South African society would have slid by.
I think that Braddock went on to become a referee and ref'd several heavyweight world title bouts. He would have seen the fight in an interesting perspective having been the champ hinself.Boxers make very interesting human interest stories. One of my favourite is J.J. Braddock. Yes, I saw the movie "Cinderella Man" (filmed here in Toronto).
Can you not just ignore a thread you have no interest in rather than choosing to be confrontational? Why do you do this?Slow news day?

Whatever your problem with Rock, maybe you could have picked a better time to 'take a shot' at him then a notification of someone's death. As a boxing fan and more you would appreciate it, but had RS not commented on the South African murder rate connection and just said he was murdered, his well known condescending stance on South African society would have slid by.
If you don't know what the comments were referring to you might want to educated yourself first. His post had little to do with Corrie's death and more to do with his murder happening in South Africa, a nation he thinks is a country of savages with little hope and a future based on race.Whatever your problem with Rock, maybe you could have picked a better time to 'take a shot' at him then a notification of someone's death.

No need. I read what he put, then your reply. If you don't know what the comments were referring to you might want to educated yourself first. Nothing stands in the way of blackrock making his appointed rounds and making sure we all know what he thinks. No need. I read what he put, then your reply.
A man lost his life and you pretty much pissed on him further.
