That's Rory Stewart from the UK. Brilliant young fellow who is following in the footsteps of the 19th century eccentrics and seems to have gone native.

I've also travelled across the Middle East relying on the kindness of strangers and they are extremely friendly people.
It would have to be an englishman.

Be sure you get travel insurance just in case.

I like a guy with a sense of humour.

I believe the policy is known as a prepaid funeral.

I have a book written by a guy who decided to walk across Afghanistan in the middle of winter, relying on the kindness of people for food and shelter. A truly amazing story about a crazy man.
Can you give me the name of the book and author? Sounds fascinating.
