The man wanted for second-degree murder in the weekend “gas and dash” death of Jayesh Prajapati had two outstanding warrants in Toronto for gas theft and a third in Montreal, police said.
Police have issued a Canada-wide warrant for the arrest of Max Edwin Tutiven, 39, of Toronto. Police said they believe he may flee to Montreal.
Lead detective Kate Beveridge said Prajapati was in the gas attendant's booth while a man was filling up. He exited the booth after the man got into his SUV.
“Mr. Prajapati was simply a man doing his job,” said Beveridge.

Police said they believe Tutiven is driving a 2000 to 2003, silver or beige, four-door Isuzu Rodeo that may have stolen licence plates.
It isn’t the first time police have asked for the public’s help in locating Tutiven.
In community bulletins issued in 2006 and 2007, police named him as a suspect in a number of prowling incidents in the Madison Ave. and Bloor St. W. and Spadina Rd. and Davenport Ave. areas.
On Saturday, just after 9 p.m., a driver arrived at the Shell gas station near Marlee Ave. and Roselawn Ave. and filled his tank with $112.85 in fuel.
The driver then allegedly fled, striking and dragging the attendant in the process.
Prajapati was taken to hospital, where he died shortly after
