That's one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. Is skydiving suffering? Is discovering something new about nature suffering?I believe in what Madame de Stael said..........."in life one must choose between boredom and suffering".
A lot of people ask that question at some point or another. That alone doesn't make you an existentialist. It's actually a fairly nebulous branch of philosophy that encompasses many different ideas, but colloquial existentialism is the position that meaning and purpose are neither absolute nor externally imposed. You make your own meaning. You give your life your own purpose, and what you choose is just as valid as any other suggested purpose, because it results from your own existence.I guess i'm an existentialist because i'm always wondering why i'm here and what is the purpose of life? Death lies at the end of every road.
Because those things alone are not enough for some people! Why can't we be content to just eat, sleep, and fuck to our hearts' content?
Okay, then sample new initiatives to see what fills that void in your psyche. Commit yourself to learning as much about the Universe as is humanly possible. Or work on curing cancer. Revolutionize education. Live completely alone in a mountainside hut, venturing outside only to hunt game and bring back potable water. Meditate 10 hours a day for 10 years.Because those things alone are not enough for some people!
It's where you've finally convinced yourself you've got a handle on mentalism -- but then, elusive as ever, it exits.I have no clue what exitmentalism means.
