Riley -- I think you need to ask yourself a different question.
Would high end status give me more pennies at the end of the year or more time off.
I remember meeting a super hot young gal who's rate was 180 to 220 depending on the day as she ran specials regularly. She paid for her BMW with cash, bought a new set of ta ta's and had all the newest designer clothes she ever wanted.
Another gal in the States, charges 200/hr and owns 3 houses all with 25% down and 2 houses paid off.
My belief is: High end Ladies are looking for a better quality of life over more $$. Some increase their rates but grandfather rates to clients that saw them at X price point. They do the ladder, so decrease their client list because their happy with the amount of repeats they have.
So if money is what you seek, keep your rates reasonable so you are obtainable while giving SUPER service. You will never go hungry or feel the need to panic when you want A or B or C in your future. Or, increase your rates for a better quality of life: Work Life Balance is hard even for the Civilians of our world.
