Gosling. I don't know. What I have seen of his work hasn't impressed me yet.

Cruise is a bona fide movie star. No question about that. "Actor" though... no. Not enough range. Not enough gravitas. Not enough talent. Grinning only goes so far.

The above mentioned: Streep, Penn, Day Lewis and then Olivier, Depardieu, Leung, Hoffman, Oldman, Darin, Nighy; all these dance around the Mawpother boy mightily.

'Character actor' is not a label or category. It simply is what it is actors do. It's absurd when the media or fans us that moniker. Few can do it. Most cannot and only read dialogue when they get their cue. A little charisma is not character development. .

Do you recall that he went all "holier than thou" on Brooke Shields, when she talked about having suffered from Post-Postpartum Depression and how she felt that medication and therapy had literally saved her life.

Back on topic, it astonishes me that someone as successful as Cruise has bought hook, line and sinker into Scientology.
Actually to the point where he's poster boy, one of the driving forces behind it.

As far back as the early 80's Time magazine ran a scathing expose; cover story was something to the effect of "The Church of Sin and Greed."
Accused them of the most ruthless, unethical tactics to keep critics in line, with smear campaigns a principal weapon in silencing opposition.
Since most people have something to hide, few can stand the heat that's sure to follow if they speak up critically.

Seems little has changed in three decades.

Katie Holmes is throwing down the gauntlet in her divorce from Tom Cruise.

On Tuesday, the future ex Mrs. Cruise III filed an emergent application with the New York courts to make everything from their divorce proceedings public.

In other words they won't be settling this privately!

The motion now means Tom will have to hire a New York lawyer and fast because the two are scheduled to appear in front of Judge Matthew Cooper on July 17th.

A source with knowledge of the filing said Katie's move is an aggressive one:

"It’s unlikely for a celebrity to file an emergency hearing, because most celebrities settle out of court because they don’t want the media involved in their case. Katie and Tom are now going to have an open court room, which means that anyone can walk in and see what’s happening. Plus, they are putting their case in the hands of a judge who is going to determine what happens next. Most public figures don’t want that — it’s a last resort. It’s super-aggressive for Katie to have taken these steps. It suggests that there’s going to be a contentious divorce battle to come."


We already knew it was going to be a Rock Divorce of Ages, but now that it's public it's going to be epic!

The "Tom Cruise is gay" rumors have been floating around forever, but now comes a juicy new blind item -- Katie Holmes reportedly walked in on Cruise and David Beckham in bed.

OMG.

Yeah, that sounds like definite gossip that has no foothold in reality, but it makes for some fun chatter, at any rate.

Blind Gossip writes: "This celebrity couple is close to a final agreement over how everything -- including the child/ren -- is going to be divided in the divorce. However, the wife's legal team is having her keep one chip in her pocket for the divorce trial. If the husband's team tries any last-minute maneuvering, the wife is not afraid to reveal an incident where she (along with their child/ren) caught her husband in bed with a family friend of theirs. Could it be Cruise and Beckham? Maybe. Maybe not.

In a new book called The Beckham Experiment, Sports Illustrated writer Grant Wahl goes into detail about the relationship between Becks and Cruise.

The bromance began when they met in 2003, and it was the start of a beautiful friendship, as David and Victoria Beckham have the same rep as Cruise, hired his PR firm, and moved just five minutes from the Cruise's house in Beverly Hills.

Beckham also reportedly talks to Cruise frequently and gets his advice on almost everything, with Cruise said to have influenced Becks' decision to join the LA Galaxy.

Beckhams' third son is named Cruz, by no accident, it seems, with Beckham telling the book's author, "I must admit, when [Victoria and I] met Tom, I remember turning around to Victoria and saying, 'Cruise is a great name, but we could spell it different.'"

As if to sound less bro-mancy, he added, "And also, living in Spain, Cruz is spelled the way it is in Spanish. So that's why we got it."

Beckham hasn't joined the dark side and joined Scientology, however, explaining, "It's something I respect, because Tom's explained to me and Victoria what it's all about. But he's never turned around and said, 'That is what you should be doing,' because he would never do that. He and Katie have their beliefs ... but me and Victoria have also got our own."

Are they bed buddies? More like BFF's, but I don't think those Tom Cruise gay rumors will ever go away completely
