You are right I read a google search result too fast..... the number I had was almost half of yours as that was the number of Torontonians born outside of Canada.Toronto's population is about 2,600,000 so the chances are 60/2,600,000 or, expressed another way, 2.2 per 100,000.
But I guess regardless of the population of Toronto is. My point is that getting shot in Toronto is largely a non random event. So when you look at how many people die because of random shootings you are getting close to getting hit by lightning territory.
Not completely safe but you odds are pretty damn low. Which is why talking about the race of the shooter is irrelevant.With that logic im pretty safe from gun violence in this city, i have zero black friends lol

I noticed someone talked about serial killers being white, and muslim bombers and black shooters but left out asian killers.

I used to work some clubs and these gansta wannabe fucks always came to the door with hot bitches and always expecting not to pay cover. The white guy was probably just coming out of The Gap.Police-scanner chatter indicates multiple victims, one of whom may be a pregnant women whose water has broken.
UPDATE: June 2, 2012, 7:05 PM Scanner chatter indicates the suspect is male, black, 27 years old, muscular, and possibly wearing a black hat.
UPDATE: June 2, 2012, 7:10 PM Scanner description of a second suspect: Male, white, 30 to 40 years old, muscular build, short hair, wearing a black jacket and pants, and carrying a black handgun.
Our collective fear is only in CM's little mind. Now a black guy walking like he's got a bad limp with one pant leg rolled up, his hat on sideways and a over sized bulge under his over the top bling belt buckle. I might a tad uncomfortable. Did I mention there were 8 others dressed just like him standing two steps back. Then I wake up and it's all good.A man who was shot in the leg has been released from the hospital. Yay for him.
Another woman shot in the leg was stabilized and is allowed visitors. Yay for her.

As someone pointed out that Toronto averages somewhere between 50 and 60 murders. In fact 2011 was a good year it went as low as 45. Not sure how many are done by black people but that means there are less than 50 or 60 black people you need to be concerned about. Furthermore, typically these are not random killlings so your concern should drop to almost nil. How many years ago was Jane Creba till this shooting? Don't get me wrong people killed in the crossfire is TRAGIC but also relatively rare.
When a woman dies the number one suspect is her husband or boyfriend. But that doesn't stop marriage or dating.

Your odds of being killed in Toronto this year is about 60/1 200 000 but if you factor in that typically the murderer knows the victim your chances of being killed by a random gunman probably gets into the realm of getting hit by lightning.

The GTA is becoming like the middle east . Random shootings, murders and robberies. Just a matter of time before we start getting curfews and random check points through out the city.
It's amazing....one crazy incident like this and people forget that Toronto had the lowest homicide rate in 25 years last year and is on pace for an even lower number this year. So much for blaming multiculturalism or any racist or stereotypical scapegoat. Let's remember to keep things in context and not let a high profile incident like this throw off the perspective of the overall numbers. An incident like this can occur anytime, anywhere...I'm just glad we don't experience this too often in Toronto.
