I decided to go to a movie last night at Colossus. Why do people need to constantly look at teir phone every 2 minutes to see whats going on. Whats going on is the god damn movie. I asked the people in front of me if they would stop and got the usual Woodbridge attitude. I go out to complain and guess what....the manager was texting when I went to the customer service counter. I guess it must have been a night where I was surrounded with a lot of very important people. Then today I go for lunch to a relative who has 3 teenage kids. I sit down and what do I see....a great meal with all 3 kids who have their place setting in order....knife, spoon, fork, and phone. WTF!

I use my phone a lot but that's just plain fucking rude to use it during a movie, show, etc.

Well they can be pretty effin bright... if someone irritated me to that degree I would ask them...and if I got the usual eff off reply I would fire up the flashlight on the phone and illuminate the mofo...

I agree with the OP. It is not proper etiquette in a movie theatre. You turn of or silent your phone.

I use my own mobile phone and the one I'm issued by my employer like they were natural appendages...but I agree with the O.P. I'm very careful not to be rude to those around me. The worst offenders seem to be teenagers. Yesterday I attended a day long soccer tournament and there were two teenage girls sitting next to me, constantly texting. After a while, I realized they were texting each other! It went on ALL bloody day.

Wow, sitting next to each other yet they were texting each other? Sad.

I get around.
They're incredibly obnoxious at live concerts too, when the crowd is standing in front of the stage if seems like half the people have their phones/cameras above their head with the glow of the screen distracting from the stage show.

What ever happened to the usher actually doing their job and asking disruptive people to leave? I haven't seen that happen in ages.

You do realize that they were doing you a favor, don't you? Instead talking to each other and annoying others, like women from old generation would do, they texted on their phones. Such incident gives me hope. Finally, a new generation of women emerged. They can shut up while still be able to keep communicating. What a win-win situation!

I know what you are talking about and I think it's awesome.

Movie theatres have gone to hell...if it isn't people talking, its the light coming from the screen of people's phones the whole movie, and is completely distracting. Friday and Saturday nights are no longer viable because of the kids that attend, so I try to attend movies during the week, and try to stay away from the places where I know there will be kids...some places that are better include the Cumberland theatre, the Beach Cinemas, Revue Cinema, the theatres on Mount Pleasant as well. These places will have less kids. However, people in their 20s are notorious for texting and are addicted to their phones as well, so we are fighting a losing battle with these self centred folk.

Not always as bright Bp. If that were true, you wouldn't have to watch your step while going to and fro your seat whilst the movie is playing.
